Ty topping lift
Currently I have it like the previous post. I have a tiny block at the eye on the side of the mast. However I have previously just run a continuous line from that block down to the end of the boom, which had a loop in it that was sized just right so that a shackle on the other end could be freed fro...

Mainsail numbers
I have also always used my hull number with a 'Ty' above the number.

Sea Hunt' summary on the mark...
VCoast... I think our 'tadpole' took time to put it into words that look to me like a pretty good summary of the Ty's rigging points. a. You might want to go out in a blow and need the jib blocks on the cabin top for a jib rather than that high triangle left when the genoa isn't let out all the way,...

Ty Rudder
Ben... Do you mean a 'deal killer' as to your betrothed or your boat? (Just kidding I hope!) To my knowledge the rudder shaft is one piece so that if you didn't feel anything below something is strange. Because the Ty rudder shaft rests in a lower bearing it would be possible that that bearing came ...

Teak Glue
Just for the record...we have had no luck with gorilla glue. After prolonged exposure to sun and temperature changes almost all these glue joints failed. My main concern was that it was the glue that failed as no wood came away at the failure.

Jib Sheets
You have an opportunity to avoid all those bulky knots. Keep the line as one piece and use a 'cow hitch'. Lifetime of freedom from hanging up on everything!
We have one on a Rhodes 19 that has been there since 1967. You won't be sorry.

Carburetor Care
I have always run the carb bowl empty and have never had a problem. That said, I don't keep any fuel older than 6 months anymore (even with StaBil added). I pour what hasn't been used in the boat into the car as it was noted in an earlier post, cars don't seem quite as fussy and it gets used up righ...

Stern Mast Crutch
I used what I am pretty sure is a support that came from a Hobie Cat trailer. It is a pretty neat piece of hardware that clamps on to some part of that trailer. In words, it has a square vertical plate at the bottom w/4 holes, a square tube welded to it that ends at the top in a 'U'. I bolt it to th...

From Ty to the Pacific Cup
Just a notice...written by the proud papa...though not sure I had all that much to do with it although she found sailing because her dad loves it so. My daughter secured a berth as crew for the Pacific Cup on 'J World', a J 120 in Division D. Her boat leaves San Francisco this Wed, 7/16, for an esti...

Ty vang is a MUST
Totally agree w/Tony. I take my vang off at the end of the day and stow it below since I am in a relatively unsupervised marina and hate to just leave all that hardware on deck. Last weekend I took some kids out planning to use the boat just as a swimming platform so didn't rig the vang. Breeze came...

Typhoon Cockpit Cover
Your timing is perfect! I just took my cover in yesterday afternoon so they could reinforce some of the stitching and add closure flaps that will close around the aft stay. I had left that end open originally thinking it would allow better air flow and our prevailing storms happen to come in on my b...

If it goes to the top of the mast, and is on the aft side, and is just a small block with 1/4" line in it, could it just be a topping lift?

Typhoon Info
My suggestions are... Start by clicking above 'About Cape Dory's'. That will give you all the published info. '81 was probably when they got around to a nice brochure, but I think it is more applicable to early Ty's than later ones. Daysailers were never well documented! There was a 'Typhooner' news...

Ditto Napa or Equivalent
Jim has my vote for the easiest way. I studied the geometry (and studied it etc) and found a preformed hose that only took some careful cuts that had the exact bend molded in and voila! Beauty is that it looks like it was meant to be.
