Got me thinking

Jeff, Thanks for getting me thinking about kayaks and cruising. I like the idea of putting it in your hard dingy. That might guide my choice of which to build. Like your 33', my sidedecks are tight. I'm considering the same one your son worked on or the Fox that is mentioned in the site. I'll repeat...

Kayak and CD30

Jeff, Do you intend to tow or put your kayak on deck of your CD30? Looks like a fun way to explore from an anchorage if you could manage to bring one or two with you.

Great new website

Those of you who follow the writings and work of some of Wooden Boat magazine's most respected contributors might enjoy this site.It offers alot of educational content with video and text covering all aspects of boats and seamanship. I am told that future content will include fiberglass. If you're a...

plotters

I've had a small Standard 155C (?) for six years. Second year, and while in warranty, a quarter-sized fogged area appeared in the center of screen. Took it back to West and they had it fixed but the problem has reoccurred. If you are interested in the Standard, I would make a point to get a satisfac...

yes

Peter is a fine writer and sails SCOUT, my former LINDA LOU, from Center Harbor in Brooklin. In the last few summers he has been out sailing more days than most all of us in the harbor. I look forward to reading this and would the encourage all to read his novels also.

Can't crew, but if you need anything in Brooklin, ME please let me know. I'm in the center of the village and have a good mooring in Center Harbor. If I'm not on it, its yours.

while at Wooden Boat/Great Cove

I'm a former CD25 owner and fan of all things CD, especially this forum. If anyone wants to trek to Brooklin while in Great Cove(WoodenBoat students make the walk daily) you'll find the Brooklin General Store, Center Harbor Sail Loft and two new stores at Brooklin Corner. One, The Cave, has fresh lo...

Penobscot area surveyor

Hi Charlie,

I would recommend my friend and neighbor, Giffy Full. He does business as G.W. Full & Associates. Giffy is in So. FL for another month or so. You could contact them by going to their website.

boat movers

I can agree with Tod's opinion about Deepwater. They moved our 34' Seasprite from N. Florida to Maine and were very professional and proficient. The price was competitive and well worth it. We had some hurricane damage to the hull and the driver was able to give her an incident free ride for 1800 mi...

yes I have

I made major changes to my CD25 and in the process removed the icebox permanently. As I recall it was more or less just screwed into place. In its place I glassed in some short floor frames and covered them with plywood. I made provision for an access hatch in the frames so I had a straight shot dow...

Good read on dinghies

Chuck, I would suggest that anyone considering purchasing a dinghy first look thru Stan Grayson's book, The Dinghy Book. I own the second edition but found the first edition better in some respects. Either one is informative and is a great source for reference when it is time to buy, upgrade or impr...

eye for whisker pole

If you have to buy a fitting for the whisker pole you might want to consider one that is not fixed. On my CD25 the attachment eye was on a track that allowed an up or down adjustment of about 2 or 3 feet. Depending on the cut of your headsail the optimum height of the eye could vary. Good luck. Greg...

Frieda and Garrette, Can you post some pictures of your "new" boat? I think its wonderful to hear the Cape Dory fleet that sails the Mobile area is growing. I hope not too many were lost in last year's hurricanes. Quite a few Cape Dories were sold in Fairhope by Turner Marine. I owned a CD...

where is it?

Hey Joe, This is the floating dock for Brooklin Boat Yard with Chatto Island in the background. We moor SARAH in Center Harbor and this was unloading day for winter haulout. My old CD25 is moored less than a hundred feet away. The new owners are very happy with her. Hail us if you are ever up this w...
