Dimensions for asymmetrical for Typhoon Weekender?

Hello,

Does anyone know where I could easily find the dimensions one should use if I were to order a new asymmetrical spinnaker for my typhoon weekender? Finding conflicting things online. Thanks!

Re: Wet bilge on typhoon

I have been having some cockpit drains issues, with them draining more slowly than previous years, partly due to the boat having a new spot in the yard that has more tree coverage. That could be it? But again, wouldn’t that result in fresh water in the bilge from rain not draining, rather than salt ...

Wet bilge on typhoon

Hello, I have a consistently wet bulge on our typhoon - I don’t see any evidence of the water coming in from above deck, and (by taste test), the water seems salty. I probably get 2-5 gallons every week or two. After a big rain, if I pumped the day before, I don’t see any excess, so I feel like it m...

Re: asym spinnaker

Interesting - keep me/us posted on how it goes! I'm curious about getting an asymmetrical for our typhoon, but I'm not sure how it would/should be rigged. What do you do with the tack or the asym? How do you rig it forward of the roller furler drum? Anyone have any pictures of their own setups?

Re: Hoist Launching Typhoon

I don’t know if this is helpful, but here’s a photo I check for reference every season as I haul in and out with our club crane. Forward straps near the port holes, aft straps near the ends of the coamings. I stand on the boat holding the straps in place, adjusting as I need to, until there’s enough...

Tips for snaking cockpit drains on a typhoon?

Hello,

I've got quite a lot of blockage in both my cockpit drains on my typhoon, but have been trouble finding a snaking solution that fits through the tiny drain covers - the storebought snake from H.D. was too wide. Any advice for clearing out these drains before I put her in the water? Thanks!

Seeking advice about installing new backing plates on my Ty

One of my spring projects on our new (to us) Typhoon is to install backing plates on most everything - cabin top cleats, chainplates, mooring cleat, and mast step. I'm skipping the backstay for now since getting to it is such a pain, and nothing looks to rusted when I spy through the inspection port...

Re: changing boom cleats for reefing and outhaul

Do people have equally strong opinions about the angle of small horn cleats attached to the boom? I see some parallel with the boom, some at an angle...

Any reason this gooseneck reefing hook won't work on a Ty?

Hello, Looking to set up my jiffy reefing rig on my Ty this spring, and would like to install a hook at the tack of the boom. I had this nifty hook on my old o'day daysailer, any reason to think it wouldn't also work on the typhoon? https://www.drmarine.com/proddetail.asp?prod=DR%2D683 My boom is aw...

Re: Should I caulk or bed teak pieces on my typhoon?

Great, I appreciate all your feedback. I think what I'll do is use a little butyl at each fastener point, but not along the entire boards, since the biggest concern would be water penetrating the deck at the screw holes.

Should I caulk or bed teak pieces on my typhoon?

Hello, Currently in the middle or sanding and building up coats of varnish on all the teak on my typhoon, and was curious as to what people suggest when reattaching. I noticed some old dried up lifecaulk beneath the teak brow on the top of the cabin, but no evidence of any bedding material anywhere ...

Re: Checking winch bolts...

Yes, these were the bolts connecting the winch stand through the deck. There was no other metal making contact, to my knowledge, but I wouldn't be surprised if these bolts were the original. Bought the boat last year, seems that the previous owners did the bare minimum maintenance. She'll be on the ...

Checking winch bolts...

Working on removing/rebedding/cleaing up all the hardware and fittings on my Ty, these winch bolts were a little tired! And this is the better of the two, the other snapped after two turns of the wrench. Helpful reminder to check *everything!*
