Re: Water under the motor
Ah yes, the mystery water in the engine bilge. I’ve narrowed it down to the teak coamings in the port and starboard cockpit lockers. Mine both need to be removed, refinished and rebedded with butyl Rubber Caulk. Maybe a project for this winter. Until then I just use a stream machine pool toy that I ...

Re: Halyard Replacement
I’ve found that splicing the two double-braid lines (old and new) works best: Pull out a few inches of the inner portion of one line and cut it off, leaving the cover intact. Then perform the reverse on the other line, cutting off the cover the same amount. Feed the inner portion of the one line int...

Re: Build date of Cape Dory CD25D
The year the CD25D was built is contained in the Hull ID stamped into the starboard upper section of the transom:
For example:
CPDY0057M83H
Built in 1983

Re: 25D Zinc Inspection
You don't have to remove the starter - just loosen the alternator and move it out of the way.
Like everything with the 1GM on the 25D, it is a bit of a stretch.
Mine was really ready to be changed.

The 1982 Yanmar 1GM on my 25D is still going strong. No idea how many hours.
They are loud but pretty pretty much indestructible.

Re: CD 25D Issues
Looks like a Spartan Seacock.
You might try lapping the cone, and then thickly applying the appropriate Spartan seacock grease.

Boat would have to be out of the water, or the thru-hull plugged to do so.

Re: Windpilot Windvane (Pacific Light) for sale
Hi SkipD,
Looking at purchasing a Windpilot Pacific Light and installing it on my 25D.
Did you have any issues bolting it onto the transom during your installation?
Thanks!

Re: Auto tiller for CD 25D
I have a Raymarine ST1000+ Tiller Autopilot on my 25D. The installation was relatively straightforward. To install, you need to: 1) drill a hole and install the power/data Connector on the side of the starboard locker 2) Run 12V power cable from switch in breaker panel to the 12V terminals on the Co...
