Re: EZ-Jax installation
Here is a shot of Delphine showing the lazies in the up position: http://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/Sabresailboat/photos/albums/1823840411/lightbox/1151043206 Thanks Carter I like the idea of the buntline hitch on the SS rings. I could not get the link to work. Is the photo still on line? Sorry ab...

Re: installing tides marine sail track
I am thinking about installing the Tides Marine track on my mast while unstepped. The installation instructions would require that I modify the mastgate with my dremel in order to insert the track. I'm thinking I could probably just run it up from the bottom and remove the gooseneck rather than sta...

Re: New Video
John,
Yeah. Yeah, and super Yeah. Really beautiful. Boat looks great. Did you add a solent stay? No need to add running backstays?
Love the club-footed jib.
I'd like to do the Canal and make it up to P-town or Wellfleet this summer, instead of Nantucket.
Take care,
Carter

Re: EZ-Jax installation
Folks, there is no need to spend a lot of money for retractable lazy jacks. I copied this system very closely years ago and it works wonderfully well: http://skipmeisch.com/slowflight/upgrades/lazyjacks_how-to.html Here is a shot of Delphine showing the lazies in the up position: http://groups.yahoo...

Re: Replacing original pressurized alcohol stove on 25D
I replaced the original pressurized alcohol bomb on Delphine with the above-referenced Cookmate non-pressurized unit a couple of years ago. I can confirm that a slight enlargement of the cutout is needed-- a trivial task with a coping saw and a rasp. The stove works just fine.

Re: Alcohol stoves
Hi there, I replaced the original Kenyon pressurized alcohol bomb aboard Delphine with a Cookmate double burner flush mount. It was almost, but not quite a perfect drop-in fit. I had to enlarge two dimensions of the cutout only slightly. From what I can see, it is nearly identical to the equivalent ...

Re: Moving to NYC
After 2 awesome years of sailing the North Carolina Pamlico Sound ( on the wonderful advice of a long time CDSOA member) I will be moving back to NYC this summer. I have completed two duty stations as an Army dentist and have decided to get out and do another residency in pediatrics at Mount Sinai....

Re: spring cleaning
The replies here seem to have more to do with winterizing; the poster's question was about sanitizing. Here is what the Headmistress, Peggy Hall, has to say on the subject:

I use this system every Spring.

Hi Robert, I think that this is what you are talking about. http://www.slowflight.net/upgrades/lazyjacks_how-to.html Good luck O J Hi folks, Yes, that is exactly the system I installed, with one minor improvement: instead of tying off each side to padeyes beneath the boom, I made lines twice as lon...

Re: Chisel
A quick rap on a sharp chisel with a mallet knocks bungs level with the base wood- a lot faster and easier than sanding. Definitely use new bungs. The job will be easier and look far better than using filler. The filler would never match the color and would shrink away from the edges of the counter...

Re: Hydrostatic PFD for Christmas?
Hi, all, I'm wondering about hydrostatic inflatable PFD's... I've decided I want automatic, and although I have harnesses, I plan to get built-ins on the jackets, it just seems easier... Does anyone have experience with the REGULAR automatic PFD's deploying in rain, spray, or high humidity? Any pro...

Loose-footed main
Hi, I had UK make me a new main last year with a single full-length batten and three extra-length battens. Loose-footed, draft stripes. A real pleasure to trim. At the same time, I installed a Tides Marine sail track. Sail comes down into the lazy jacks faster than Mata Hari's drawers. https://dl-we...

Re: CD 27 & Inland Passage From Seattle to Alaska
Has any one either done this trip, or know of anyone who has? Would the CD 27 be suitable for this voyage? Thanks. I just read a very beautiful book by Jonathan Raban, Passage to Juneau (1999, Vintage). It's a multi-threaded account of a singlehanded sailing trip he made in his 35-footer from Seatt...

Re: Sanitary overboard seacock selection - Spartan/Groco/oth
So I am looking for opinions on the merits of a spartan seacock vs groco type seacock for this particular valve....I like the spartans, but not sure the sanitary overboard valve is a valve I am excited about tearing apart on a routine basis to maintain....seems like a dirty job. Honestly, its not r...

Our own Michael Heintz flies his ensign from the backstay. Perhaps he can share his technique with us.
