Brett,
I replaced both transmission and throttle cable last year. If you go to Edson's site, you'll find instructions on how to do it. Once you do this, you'll have the experience down if you ever have to do it again.

Bill,
Take a look at this site. It looks like what you want for $12. I can't tell if this a european site or canadian.

Mitchell, I happen to have a book from when I was in the 3rd grade which tells all about the earth's precession, including a bit about the constellation Ophiuchus which is partly in the zodiac. Anyone who has kids who are interested in astronomy should get a copy of this book: 'The Stars" by H....

Wisconsin to Pasadena, MD
Subject line says it all. It's 815 miles from our home to the boat. It takes about 12h 15m. We used to drive out 3-4 times a season, but the last 3 seasons we stay several months. 3 seasons ago we drove only once and stayed over 4 months.

draining tanks
What I did was cut the delivery hose (after the manifold valves) and added an inline spigot from my local hardware store. This hose runs below the sole, but drains directly to the bilge beneath. So I select the tank to drain by opening the valve to that tank, open the spigot valve, and wait 7 minute...

I bought some tubular webbing from Sailrite for about 60 cents a foot. A few weeks later, I decided to buy some more and went to WM which was faster than driving to Annapolis where Sailrite is. WM wanted something like $2.50 a foot. It was the same color, the same tubular construction, but a lower b...

Don't trust a shackle when you go up the mast. I had always figured on using my boom vang with 4:1 purchase to haul myself up. The vang blocks attached to the bails by a snap shackle. Last year in Delaware Bay, a tug came close to us (no barge attached) and the wake was significant enough to shear o...

membership voting
Correct me if I'm wrong, but paid members (apparently only those who own a cape dory) can vote. But as I understand it, you can vote ONLY if you attend the meeting where the voting takes place. What is the rationale for this? I understand that there may be some issues that need to have a fast resolu...

Steve, Our shower faucet is in our aft locker. We have a plastic hose and a plastic shower head which has an off and on valve on it (although the off position lets some water dribble out on purpose...all heads we looked at have this 'feature'). After using the shower, we drain all water out of the h...

Steve, We have a cockpit shower on our CD32. The fresh water pump, which is located in the engine compartment, handles all of the fresh water demands with no problem. I think it's about 3 gal/min with an adjustable pressure switch. We have a 3 gpm Shurflow pump. You probably could go with a lower pr...

Skip and Bill, I had the same problem on Magdalena about 5 years ago. Our ice box had an S trap below the drain. Water would not drain from the box because somewhere below the drain was a clog. Plan A: At first I tried to access the space under the box (port side, next to the engine compartment). I ...

Bob, I replaced my sink drain this year. I live in Wisconsin and around here and Illinois there's a chain store (Meynards) that has the small drain piece and the strainer for about $8. I don't know if the sink on our CD32 is the same as what you have, though. The drain is for a bar sink and is plate...
