Re: For Sale: CD-36 in Virginia

Matt:

My wife and I are looking to move up from the CD 30 we've sailed for 13 years. She's a carpenter, so rebuilding cabinets would not be too big a deal. Interested in learning more about the fire and your price. Please PM me at russkendall@aol.com.

Thanks,

2 ft itis...

Is it about the boat or is it about the places your boat can take you? Our CD30c is perfect for our family of 2 adults and one nearly 6 yr old. We sail to different islands most summer weekends. Then we row ashore, hike, explore, row back. Bigger would not take us farther or in more comfort. How man...

We bought a new pair of Fujinon Stabi Jrs two years ago for about $500 on sale. Wow! Nothing but great things to say about them and how much easier they make seeing far away small things while the boat is moving.

Macerator question.....

Four years ago when we came into the CD 30c that we now call Edna Brady we inherited a busted shurflo macerator attached to the port side of the anchor rode locker. Since then I've upgraded all the toilet components, head, holding tank, hoses, Y-valve, except the macerator. (All of our sailing in th...

Onset

Great pictures. It's funny - I grew up in Onset, MA but never had my own sailboat. After years, decades really, of looking for her it was here in Bellingham, WA, that I finally found Edna Brady.

Steve: My CD 30 was repowered with a Yanmar 18 HP diesel a few years before we bought it. The engine is reliable, thrifty and tireless. The only problem we've ever had with it was a mixing elbow that apparently filled with hard-packed carbon and eventually closed shut, requiring replacment (about $5...

Good experience replacing CD30 holding tank....

In a post to this board a few weeks ago I asked for help replacing the nearly 30 year old, cracked, Kracor holding tank under the vee berth in my CD 30 cutter. Thanks for all the good advice I got. I thought I'd post a follow up note outlining my experiences for anyone in the same fix. Kracor (www.k...

GB: You might also check the holding tank for cracks or leaks. I'm in the middle of a odor prevention project myself. When I took the vee berths off I was appalled to find that my Kracor holding tank had an 8 inch crack on the upper port corner that contributed smell as well as actual effluent (if t...

Replacing holding tank on CD 30...

Hi: I've removed the 15-gallon holding tank from under the vee-berth of our CD 30. It has an 8-inch crack that starts on the top and continues down about 4 inches from the top. Thus it leaks odor at all times and if it becomes too full or if we are well-heeled over leaks actual effluent under the bu...

control head - new idea!

Rich: Thanks for linking to the pictures you posted. I recall that I saw them when I was looking for ideas about how to mount the rudder sensor. (do you know that now Raymarine is marketing a new autopilot called the X-series which is essentially the S1 Wheelpilot but which, in the language of the c...

Where to put the control head of new autopilot?

Howdy all: I'm installing an S1 Wheelpilot from Raymarine on a CD30c (upgrading from a Autohelm 4000.) I had no problems installing most of the components once I ditched the rudder sensor ("easy to install" the catalog said. Yeah right, I say, easy the way giving yourself a lobotomy is eas...

Staysail boom?

Hi: Our CD30c appears to have all the necessary deck hardware to use a staysail boom, excepting the minor impediment of not actually having the boom itself. I've heard from people I respect that a staysail boom is evil and dangerous. I've also heard from other people I respect that it is a handy, da...

Chartplotter affecting compass?

All: Hi. I recently bought a Garmin GPSMAP 276c. Since it is so small and so portable I'm hoping to install two mounts for it - one below and one above. While considering various cockpit mounting options, I set the unit on top of the binnacle rail just to get a sense it. I was then a little unnerved...
