Good experience replacing CD30 holding tank....

Post by russkendall »

In a post to this board a few weeks ago I asked for help replacing the nearly 30 year old, cracked, Kracor holding tank under the vee berth in my CD 30 cutter. Thanks for all the good advice I got. I thought I'd post a follow up note outlining my experiences for anyone in the same fix.

Kracor (www.kracor.com) wanted over $400 to replace the 18-gallon tank, plus shipping. Would've taken 3 - 4 weeks to get the tank.

I went instead with an outfit out of Tustin, California called Ronco Plastics (www.ronco-plastics.net). I had a short telephone conversation with a smart fellow who asked a few questions about the shape of the vee berth and the location of the tank's fittings. They sold me the exact same tank as the original Kracor for $185, plus shipping, and cut the holes for the various fittings for free. The only extra cost was installing a clear access port on the top of the tank for which they charged me about $30. They took my order on Friday and I had the tank delivered to my house (Bellingham, WA) in about a week.

It was a pleasure doing business with them.
