Replacing holding tank on CD 30...

Post by russkendall »

Hi:

I've removed the 15-gallon holding tank from under the vee-berth of our CD 30. It has an 8-inch crack that starts on the top and continues down about 4 inches from the top. Thus it leaks odor at all times and if it becomes too full or if we are well-heeled over leaks actual effluent under the bunk. Ewww.

I'm OK repairing it, but frankly, given that it was probably installed when our boat was new in 1981, I'd prefer to replace it and all the hoses and fittings. (The toilet, a Groco HF is in good working order.)

The manufacturer's info is largely worn away, but it appears to have been made by a Wisconsin company called "Kradon" or Kraden" or something like that. (Several letters are missing from the name and a google search comes up empty.) The top is flat, but the bottom and sides have several angles that conform quite closely to the inner hull.

Can anyone help me? There are a lot of CD 30s out there with the same vee-berth holding tank. Any ideas where I can buy a new one of the same shape?

Thanks,

Russ Kendall
