Macerator question.....

Post by russkendall »

Four years ago when we came into the CD 30c that we now call Edna Brady we inherited a busted shurflo macerator attached to the port side of the anchor rode locker. Since then I've upgraded all the toilet components, head, holding tank, hoses, Y-valve, except the macerator. (All of our sailing in the past four years has been in the lovely waters of the San Juan Islands, so we simply don't pump out.) But we are starting to plan for a trip north in the next year or three, possibly to Alaskan waters, certainly far past the three mile mark, and I want all the boat's systems to be either restored or upgraded before we go. ("We" being me, my wife and our currently five year old boy.) I hear stories about the dearth of pump-outs between here and Juneau.

I bought a Shurflo 3200 macerator today thinking it would simply go in in place of the old Shurflo 3200 macerator. But as it turns out the outflow nozzle is on the NEW unit is on the left of the unit as you are looking at it. The outflow nozzle of the OLD unit is on the right side of the unit, as you are looking at it.

Anyone have any experience rotating the outflow nozzle 180 degrees? I'm reluctant to start dismantling the thing lest I just destroy it!
Many thanks for any help.
