S/v Sunset was sold to someone from Gloucester who sailed her up there.

Sorry for the slow notice, it was a couple months ago.

Re: F/S 1976 CD25, Boston MA, Needs good home.

Solid CD25 for sale, winter storage paid (and winter is over). Corona virus and social distancing... still a problem.

Can be viewed at a distance in Quincy, I will meet you and unlock the ladder and cabin if you want to inspect it.

Re: Bulwarks & Stanchions

Hilbert,
I'm very interested in seeing your brackets but the images aren't showing up (at least for me), can anyone see his images?

This may be a browser issue on my computer, or network filtering at my location, just trying to figure this out.

Thanks,
Josh

Re: Any Winthrop, MA area yacht club members?

Hello, I'm a member of the Columbia Yacht Club in South Boston, MA. There is an event room on the third floor with a large porch overlooking Dorchester Bay. It's a good room that I've rented myself on two occasions; a 90th birthday party (the ages of the two guests of honor added up to 90) and a gra...

Re: Help how to install inner stay on cape dory 28

A 'Solent Stay' is usually close to the original head stay. The original poster may want a shorter 'staysail stay' that is closer to the mast, about 1/3rd of the way back from the bow. This allows a storm sail to be set from a safer position on deck, and brings the center of effort (of the sails) cl...

Re: bowsprit for 30K

I know this thread is older, but this should be in any discussion of varnishing wood. Before varnishing the wood should be sealed with a coat or two of epoxy. This stabilizes the wood by filling the surface pores with a material that is much stronger than varnish. The varnish protects the epoxy (and...

Re: Kill switch for auxiliary engine on Cape Dory sailboats

Yep. It's on the outboard on CD25 S/V Sunset. A little springy cord attaches it to the motor that's easy to grab and pull.

Re: Sliding hatch

J D, On my CD-25 someone stepped on the hatch and broke the reinforcing rib. This rib at the aft end of the hatch needs to be securely fastened to the hatch to keep it rigid and in the correct shape. The screws that are used to mount this part go through the smaller rib on the outside that you grab ...

Re: Newport for Volvo race

I was sailing Saturday afternoon on a Pearson 27 that a friend just bought. We sailed from Dutch Harbor and got around the Beavertail light just in time to see the last 30 minutes of the race. WOW. With a little bit of win those boats flew to the mouth of Narraganset Bay for the final turn back to N...
