Funky Dory haul out

Had the FD hauled out at Nanticoke Harbor this morning with the tide. After sailing a short season, Sept. to now, we had minimal build up on the hull, and the new thru hull for the inboard and the folding propeller were virtually free of barnacles; I had coated the exposed portion of the propeller s...

Re: Typhoon Roller Furling System

I have had reasonably good luck with a shaefer snapfurl cf-500 on our 22. It is advertized as a furling/reefing unit, but I have not used it in a reefed position. I had to add a 10" pendant to the tack of the jib so the foot of the sail would clear the pulpit and stanchion lines. My one complai...

Congratulations! We're hopefully days away from getting back in the water as well, after 2 years.

Re: About ready...

Yep, an atomic 4. Parts are still available, and there is a nice group of sailing folks who have also powered their boats with one.

About ready...

After the installation of an A4 in my CD22, I am almost ready to put her back in the Nanticoke River here in MD: http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n213/hymodyne/IMG_20140816_120339_zpsf59c4ea2.jpg Inside, I have to install a hatch in the starboard engine housing side panel, so I can manually open a...

Re: A-4 inboard project completed

A few more pictures of the project. Mock-up propeller shaft (3/4" steel tube with 5/8" steel rod inside) and mock cutless, a piece of pvc, allowed me to position and finalize the propeller shaft and housing construction long before I got the 3/4" cutless for the keyed stainless shaft....

Re: A-4 inboard project completed

I went ahead and repainted the cockpit and tried out the Rustoleum marine paint and non skid now available at Lowes: http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n213/hymodyne/2013-09-26_152244_zps8a75a91f.jpg The battery space provided just enough space for the install and compartment: http://i113.photobucke...

A-4 inboard project completed

I have always disliked the presence of the outboard kicker on our Dory, so last winter I found an early model Atomic 4 inboard. here it is with the gauges, exhaust and water to test the engine. It was a freshwater engine from lake Michigan :D http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n213/hymodyne/2013-03-...

well in a cd22

I've been watching this thread and I'm wondering if the 22 has a rear compartment suitable for an engine well. currently we have an outboard kicker mounted; Its functional but really detracts from the beautiful lines of the boat. I'd like to install a well, with a 4-6 hp outboard and would appreciat...

I purchased two PVC plumbing base pieces like the one at the link below: images.hardwareandtools.com/P/6163067.jpg and attached one to the underside of a table I made out of 3/4 inch birch plywood with SS screws, and the other to the top of a smaller rectangle of the same birch plywood that matched ...

My wife and I just installed a snapfurl 500 furler on our cd22. So far, so good. I've got an old Kenmore HD sewing machine with a zig zag feature, so we stitched the sailrite luff tape onto our headsail from their kit.
