Bruce's Table + Pedestal height
Bruce Ebling wrote:The table may look crooked because you guys wanted a photo so bad that I just assembled the base, pipe and table top then held it down with MY FOOT!
Thanks for the good answers, I think we've come up with a winner here.
I also noticed, Bruce, that there are covers available for the deck ring:
I saw them available at http://www.cgedwards.com/garelick/gar4.html75641 Deck Ring Cover for QR Hdwe, Tan $ 7.95
75642 Deck Ring Cover for QR Hdwe, Black $ 7.95
This might be a nice way to finish everything neatly, and keep the deck ring from accumulating grunge?
Barfwinkle, to save Bruce the trouble, the length of the post is:
(For those who may have slideout berths, they also have shorter pedestals)75647 : 25." Stanchion post, 2.25" diameter. When installed, distance from deck to underside of table equals 27"
75643 : 13" Stanchion post, 2.25" diameter
75644 : 9.25" Stanchion post, 2.25" diameter

Table Installed
We finally got our cockpit table installed, here are a few photos. We are very pleased with the installation!

I purchased two PVC plumbing base pieces like the one at the link below:

and attached one to the underside of a table I made out of 3/4 inch birch plywood with SS screws, and the other to the top of a smaller rectangle of the same birch plywood that matched the width of the cockpit floor. I measured the PVC pipe that fits into the base pieces for the height of the table that I wanted and cut to size. The base plywood piece is held in place on the cockpit floor by a pair of small hardwood rails I installed right above base; when I want to use the table in the cockpit, I take its three pieces out, top, tube and base, put them together and slide the base under the rails.
I have a smaller tube and rail system in my main berth so I can use the same table inside.
