Typhoon work

I have my ty on a trailer at home and I want to prep the hull and paint. Do I pressure wash or sand and what is the recommendation for paint? It is already pretty clean of any barnacles and growth. What is the preferred method for cleaning my lines? Thanks. I'm really looking forward to getting this...

genoa block ?

I bought new blocks for my genoa tracks from schaefer. West Marine had to special order them but they had a lower price than direct from schaefer. I think the track is 3/4 inch. If this is what you are looking for.

spending the night on a Typhoon - weekender, of course.

Any words to the wise or ideas about how this will work best. I have spent many weekends tent camping in the mountains but I was just imagining sleeping down below in my typhoon weekender and it seemed a bit cramped. I thought about trying to rig some type of platform across the benches in the cockp...

here is an idea. put a low profile receptacle, perhaps a pie plate or tray with sufficient area to catch the drippings from the cleat above (or where ever you suspect the leak is originating). If the drips leave water in the tray then you will know, if not, it must be something else. On my Typhoon I...

Happy for you that you have found this solution. I have considered a rig that could be removed and stored below when not in use - more easily than my heavy 6 hp. I dont often need to use it sailing on and off my mooring but having it available if the wind should die or blow up such that my limited s...

not intending to hijack the thread, but...

I use a Mac and own a Typhoon that I only sail in Biscayne Bay, no intention of straying too far from home. But the other day I was approaching Soldier Key from the northeast and wandered into some really shallow water. It was low tide and after consulting my chart, taking time to put on my glasses ...

Re: Repairing teak on a Typoon

Over the winter the starboard cleat was bumped resulting in a fracturing of the board that runs the length of the cockpit. The broken piece is about 1" x 15" and it split at the holes that the cleat bolts were in. I think that it can be repaired with some type of adhesive. I would appreci...

Re: Counter-Intuitive

The outboard with the least horsepower that is capable of pushing a displacement-hull sail boat at hull speed in calm conditions will push that boat through any conditions just as well as an outboard with greater horsepower. For example, an 8 HP outboard will not punch a TY through rough seas any b...

I bought mine at west marine. I gave them the part number from the Schaefer catalog and they ordered them so I could pick them up in store saving the shipping cost, plus West Marine price was lower than Schaefer direct.

I certainly didn't mean to slight any boat owners here. Does your Typhoon have 3, 4, or 5 ports?
Man made, manufactured or accidental? Not to mention the sun roof.

Re: CD30K and CD36K Portlight Configurations

Our ketch, hull #2, has five portlights. But we hav'nt seen others that way! ... Perhaps I'm easily entertained, but I still find this to be an interesting quirk and a candidate for the next CD Trivia Quiz. I'd always thought that the CD line ran something like this: 25, 25D, 26, 26D, and 27 - 3 po...

already linked to "where to look"

Just FYI, the Typhoon pages are available through this web site via the where to look link. Don't know about the others. However, the floridaboats site presents the thumbnails so you can browse easily.

beautiful teak. have you considered rigging your jib with a double purchase? I just had mine done when I got new sails and it is like a completely different boat. much much easier to single hand. another question, is that the original jib track?
