30' Cape Dory Cutter (1985) for sale in Spruce Head, ME

I am selling my Documented 30' Cape Dory Cutter which is located in the Spruce Head, ME marina. I have enjoyed this boat immensely since its purchase, but I have not used it much of late. The 14HP diesel has been completely rebuilt along with its electrical panel and has been completely rewired with...

4 to 5 inch GPS/Chart Plotters

My old GPS went south on me last season and I would like to purchase a new one (4 to 5 inch Diagonal measurement). Is there any benefit to have the chart plotter feature along with the GPS, as I sail in Maine and I have a depth sounder? Garmin seems to be the choice of many, but are there others out...

4 to 5 inch GPS/Plotters

My old GPS went south on me last season and I would like to purchase a new 4 to 5" (diagonal measurement) GPS or GPS/Chart Plotter. Is there any benefit to have the chart plotter feature along with the GPS (I sail in Maine waters and have a depth sounder). Garmin seems to be the choice of many,...

CD 30 ft. Cutter- - Hatch Covers and Dual Purpose Batteries

Hatch Covers. Were these covers ever clear or like mine after many years of service always opaque?

Dual Purpose Batteries -- I have to replace my engine starting battery before launch this spring. and wondered if any one had experiences (good or bad) with this new type of Hybrid battery.

Pressurized Fresh Water Pump -- Keeps on going

The fresh water pump (Mfg. Bristol Products) on my '85 CD30C simply will not shut off. (I've blown off one water line due to the pressure it still can build. If I have to purchase a new pump I guess that is the way it goes. However, I believe all I need is a new pressure switch ?? Is this pump still...

marine starting batteries vs. automotive starting batteries

Last year my starting battery went ka-put. I am currently in the process of replacing it with a group 27 starting battery (a little more reserve capacity than the old battery). Are there any significant differences between a Marine starting battery and an Automotive starting battery ?

Upgrading and Location change of main DC Panel or DC/AC Pan.

I am contemplating updating my 1985 CD30K DC/AC system so it will be capable of handling the extra power using devices (safety improvement) which have been added over the years. After reviewing Blue Sea and Paneltronics panels I have a couple of questions. 1) Are both manufacturers about the same ? ...

Wind Generator

I have been considering purchasing an Air X Marine 12V wind generator. From some of the responses I have read on the CD Board this appears to be one of the better ones, if not the best one to purchase. However, in reading the only review listed on the West Marine web site the owner of his Air X Mari...

Wind Generators or Solar Power to Re-Charge the Batteries

:?: Living in New England our Summers are short making our sailing days really precious. Having a dead battery or a "sub-charged" battery is not a good thing. What I am trying to determine is what is the most effective, cost conscious way to keep my two battery house bank, and starting bat...

Diesel Fuel

When I purchased my CD30 two years ago, the tank (13 Gals) was full. I may have added 2 to 3 gallons of fresh diesel fuel to the orignal since then, topping off for the New England winters to prevent condensation. (I also conditioned the fuel as well.) How long is Diesel fuel that has been condition...
