Re: CD 22

I keep a full cockpit cover on my Ensign and an electric bilge pump--so I dont notice that the cockpit is not self-bailing.

Re: Torqueedo Outboard motor for a Typhoon Weekender?

I am on my second Torqeedo 1003L for my Pearson Ensign (22' Alberg design)--dont ask about the first one-- I love it--so I bought the second one. I race the Ensign and we pull the motor during the race. I have an extra battery so I can go fast out to the race and still motor home. With the second on...

Re: Lake Norman, North Carolina

Hi Robert, I dont think that Lake Norman usually freezes but it is a little colder up there than here on Lake Murray, near Columbia, S.C. We have beautiful weather except July and August, when it can be oppressively hot! My CD25D has air conditioning at the dock, so when it gets that hot I turn on t...

Re: Big Duck Canvas

I purchased some marine canvas and some beautiful cotton linen blend from Big Duck. Everything was reasonable. I actually drove down there to look at the fabrics and purchased quite a lot for my winter projects. I dont buy first run sunbrella. If I were doing this for money, I might but I have had v...

Re: Looking for help recovering or replacing cushions MA, RI

I understand-- not cheap. Honestly, when I make cushions, it takes me at least 8 hours to make one cushion. Material and foam are expensive-in the end, I wonder how they do it--I have professional equipment but it still takes me a long time to make a cushion--I guess they sew much faster than I do--...

Re: Looking for help recovering or replacing cushions MA, RI

Hi Joe, I am going to replace Saga's cushions this winter. I have a source in NC foam. I just did the cushions in a friends Pearson 303 and the foam was $160. That was for 2 4" and 2 3" 78" long--that is for the foam only. CD25D would probably be a bit more because of the quarter bert...

Re: CD25 vs. CD25D vs. CD26

Oh they are all wonderful. I have owned a Ty day sailer, Ty weekender, and a CD22. Currently, I own a CD25D and a CD10 (I also own a Pearson Ensign, Alberg design, that I race). I love to sail a Ty, but if you want to spend the night, they are a little basic for my taste. The Ty Sr. is more comforta...

Re: Alberg 22 and Cape Dory 22: offshore capabilities

I still miss my CD22, a wonderful boat. The main reefs on the boom by turning the boom. You really need to set your sails for the worst weather you expect that day as rolling the boom to reef the main is a difficult task away from the dock in heavy weather. I currently sail a CD25D and I race a Pear...

Re: Repowering a 25D

Thanks all for the replies. I am so looking forward to the new engine. I purchased a boat for a song with a Beta 20, but the engine will not fit so I sold it to a friend. But the sound of the engine is so much better than the 1gm. I call the old 1gm the "African Queen" --Chug-a-chug-Chug-a...

Repowering a 25D

I saw where I posted in 2009 that I planned to repower my CD25D, Saga Blue. Well it is going to happen! I just purchased a Beta 14. Engine will go in this month. I will keep you posted! It is a lot of money but I intend to keep the boat. I would not want another boat for what it is going to cost so ...

I also would like information. Is the crew and boat named Green Dolphin ok. It is an Ensign that usually sails that race.
