Repowering a 25D

Post by trapper »

I saw where I posted in 2009 that I planned to repower my CD25D, Saga Blue. Well it is going to happen! I just purchased a Beta 14. Engine will go in this month. I will keep you posted! It is a lot of money but I intend to keep the boat. I would not want another boat for what it is going to cost so I just did it!

I give you joy of your Beta. I am doing the same with my forward motor (Genoa) this year. Probably posted about it too in 2009!

Good luck with the repower. I swapped my MD7A for a Beta 14 last year and it's been great.

I repowered my 25D in 2014. Like you I intend to keep the boat. You will be amazed at the lack of vibration and smoothness compared to the 1GM. It was worth every penny. Stanley at Beta is a wealth of knowledge. PM me for any questions.

Thanks all for the replies. I am so looking forward to the new engine. I purchased a boat for a song with a Beta 20, but the engine will not fit so I sold it to a friend. But the sound of the engine is so much better than the 1gm. I call the old 1gm the "African Queen" --Chug-a-chug-Chug-a-chug whereas the beta was chit-chit-chit. I can't wait. Frank, I will send you a pm. Stan is probably the reason I went with Beta!

I'm interested in the details of a beta 14 repower for a 25d. Overall cost? Did it need a new wiring harness? New mounts? Any mods to engine compartment or prop shaft/prop?

Thanks!
