Steering a 28 in reverse
Tried to find the archived blurb on how to successfully steer in reverse but could not find it. Aside from wind, tide, current - like very calm water- when leaving a slip, is the method just like steering a car in reverse? Best method I have used is to ramp-up the boat in reverse and then put it in ...

3 blade prop question
Heard from other 28 owners that a three bladed prop is an asset
when stopping and turning are crucial.
I repowered to a yanmar two years ago with new prop and new
shaft. Prop is two bladed.
Would a 3 bladed prop be advantageous in any way?
Thanks! Bill

Wired up...very unusual question.
Wires in an open channel above and behind settee in main cabin are showing. No way to secure them with ties, clamps. Previously, there was a goop that held them in. Also, at one time someone may have put bubble gum up there. Is there a commercial product that I can get to stave off hanging wires? Wh...

CD 28 sail, shore power question
I have all the Marinco shore power necessities and ready to install shore power on my CD28, but not sure where to put the Inlet. I would like to put it in the cockpit area but unsure as to where would be best for using the cockpit with power plugged in from the dock. I know this is a stretch, but if...

Shrink-wrap question
I've never dealt with shrink wrap and would like to know if I can
put in a zipper door in existing wrap...what materials I should get
from a boating store, do's and don'ts. I am very handy, but this is
new territory. Thanks for your input(s). Bill

Lazy Jacks for CD28
I've decided to install lazy jacks on my CD28. Need information on the location on the mast for the connection and the hardware, line type, and boom connection area. Also, will this interfere with my sail cover (non zippered)? Thanks in advance, Bill.

new guest/member?
Hi Walt, Kathy...There is a CD25 owner on the island who wants to communicate on the Board. What is the best way to access the Board? At one time I thought I saw a "guest" registration form. For someone not acclimated to the CD forum, it is rather daunting to begin the process. Thank you m...

CD cockpit canopy--thanks Neil
I've been struggling to figure out the canopy that came with the boat. Due to sun and heat I had to do something. So your post hit the jackpot for using that particular canopy. Thanks. Ben, I will send you measurements if you would like them. Bill

If in path of Hurricane?
Here in Maine I have the choice of being on a slip, anchoring in a variety of ways, or on my mooring (500 lb mushroom). Maine has not had a severe hurricane in the 3 decades we have lived here. Our nor'easters are the baddies. I have pondered the choices and would opt for the mooring, perhaps with a...

Furling gear
Andrea, three years ago I converted to a roller furler and, at the time, bought a 110 genoa. I bought a new Furlex, which comes with a new forestay. I also have a 130 genoa which I had adapted to the new forestay. I mainly stay with the 110 since speed is not an issue with me and I do solo quite a b...

Repowering
Mitch, I repowered last year from a Volvo to a 2GM20 Yanmar fresh water cooled engine. No doubt about the fact that I could not trust the Volvo anymore. Although Morning Light is a CD28, I do know CD30 owners have installed the GM20. My 2GM20 (18hp) only has 40 hours on it and the folks at Great Isl...

Engine blues
Greg, the posts regarding your engine problem are great...most based on experience and common sense engine fixes. Being a non-mechanic I would have been overloaded with advice and therefore contacted someone with knowledge for $40 for an hour to tell me what the problem is. Someone with gauges and g...

Groundings
Last year when I sailed the coast (Maine) from Chebeague Island to Castine, and up a few rivers, I counted 26 groundings that had to be repaired; 7 or 8 were serious enough that it took boatyards several months to repair. Only two major injuries that I heard about. Old school me... not out in fog, a...
