Next Landfall
Russell, Our primary plan is to leave Cape May on Friday around noon or so. Then do a straight shot to Block Island......200nm or about 36hrs. Secondary plans are: if the weather is good and turns ugly soon, duck into Atlantic City or Mannasquam depending on our progress whatever is closer....if we ...

Chesapeake to Cape May.
We made it to Cape May Sunday afternoon at about 3:00pm. We had the advantage of fair tides and currents and was able to sail for about 75% of the time. Even down De Bay. Although by 1:00 on Sunday the winds came around to the northeast and blew at a steady 25 kts with gusts over 30.. seas on the ea...

Re: Where is David Sabourin?
Dave is currently sailing to Block Island. He plans on stopping along the way and has access to the web somehow. He has promissed to keep us abreast of his progress so I imagine he will be around soon. I leave for Block Island this Friday from Cape May.....and I will have internet access via my lap...

Fuel Tank Replacement
To All, I did replace my fuel tank two years ago.......however, it was located under the cabin sole along the center line between the bilge access to the rear and the access point to the mast step. I had a local guy, who was excellent, cut the sole out and pulled the tank in tact. I replace it with ...

Repower
Brett,
Every once in a while we take a detour over to your marina to see if you have launched yet.......hmmmmmm....I did see a shaft protruding from you cutless bearing.....that's a good sign.
Hope you launch soon,
David

Dousing
Warren, The only time we have had difficulty with dousing the chute is when we have waited too long and the wind is up over 15kts. Other than that, just ease the sheet and pull her down. We did put an extra swivel inside the sock at the top where the wire pennant attaches to the sail. That relieved ...

Leg One
The Mad Hatter is off to Cape May late Friday night or early Saturday am. We see that the winds will be generally from the north.....wouldn't have it any other way....right on the nose to head north to the C&D Canal. On the other hand, northerlies on Sunday while heading south to Cape May will b...

Hurricane holes
Potters Cove in Prudence Island might be a good alternative if the other spots are already crowded....it's pretty sheltered and there is very little fetch in any direction.

Last Weekend
Mad Hatter did make it to Baby Owl Cove on Saturday. The predicted heavy winds and high waves never did materialize. We spent a peaceful evening in an almost empty anchorage. Just two boats beside us. Sunday was a different story tho....the high winds we didn't get on Sat we sure got on Sunday.....n...
