Re: Proud new Typhoon owner

Congratulation, she sure is a beautiful boat! Newbie question please. Is your white hull painted or is that the original gelcoat finish? I wonder if 35 year old sailboats still have nice original gelcoat finish or are they all repainted by now? I talked with a listmember who has a TY with a painted ...

Its Not Me

Last year I kept seeing this gorgous sailboat throughout the summer. Finally I sailed over and asked the skipper about the boat, a Cape Dory Typhoon. THe skipper was probably irritated with me because I think she was racing. So in the heat of the racing battle, some jack-a$$ (me) sails up, probably ...

Thanks Guys for the Tips and Leads on the DaySailor

It struck me last night what made Sandy's Typhoon daysailor jump out at me. I've been looking at catboats like the Marshall Sanderling, Herreshoff America. I like the look and feel of their wide, open, cockpit on a smaller 18' to 22' boat. Plus the catboats seem to have a simplicity about them. That...

Has Anyone Ever Seen a Ty Daysailor Like the one in GOB?

Has anyone ever seen a TY daysailor like the one in the Good Old Boat article? T For those that haven't seen it, the TY Daysailor in Sandys article is a Typhoon 18, with some startling differences like a molded in fiberglass coaming all the way around. The mast sits in the cockpit, on top of the kee...

The Article was Wonderful, What a Gorgous Daysailor

Good old boat arrived yesturday and imagine my surprise to see that great article on the restoration of the Typhoon daysailor. What a gorgous boat and what a great restoration job.

Is it me or are the Cape Dorys the prettiest gals on the lake?

I'm Usually Quick to Take Advantage of an Opportunity but

I'm usually quick to take advantage of an opportunity but in this case I'm interested in two or three different CD models, and have never sailed on a Cape Dory. That makes it hard to make an informed decision if I haven't tried them out :) I might like the wider beam of the CD 22 or Typhoon Sr, or I...

Aw Darn, Opportunity Knocked, I had to Pass

Aw darn, opportunity knocked but I had to pass. A local TY owner and list member contacted me the other week, letting me know his TY is for sale and I could have first dibbs. Its too soon for me to buy a TY or TY Senior or CD22 because I haven't had a chance to sail one yet or figure out if the 18' ...

Consider a Remote Control too

My non Cape Dory keelboat has a nice stereo stereo system located in the cabin, with speakers in the cabin and cockpit. Only problem is its location. Its often not convenient for me to leave the cockpit to make adjustments to volume or station. On my next boat, hoping for a Cape dory Typhoon or Typh...

Do it, MOst People Are Happy to Answer Questions.

Do it. Most skippers are happy to answer sailing questions. Recently I looked in the membership directory and emailed several skippers with newbie questions about the CD Typhoon, Ty Sr, and CD 22. Most, not all, but most happily responded, projected enthusiam, carefully answering all my questions, p...

Wow What Great Aerial Photos of your Ty, She's a Beauty

I wish I lived close by because I'd drive over tomorrow. I'm starting to see more Ty's for sale as spring approaches. I am interested in the Typhoon, Ty Sr, or CD 22 after reading several magazine reviews and asking skippers about CD boat handling, performance, characteristics, etc.. But, and thats ...

TAKE YOUR BOAT WITH, 2 Good Sailing Lakes Right There

Take your boat with because Madison sits on two great sailing lakes, Lake Mendota and Lake Monona. I didn't know the size so I just Googled them. Lake Mendota is 9740 acres, 21 miles around. Now that is a bit inland lake. Max depth 84 feet. Lake Monona is 3410 Acres, 13 miles around, 72 some feet ma...

Congratulations!

Congratulations on your purchase! I took a peek at the CD22 on Ebay. You've got some work ahead of you but she looks like a fine boat. I hope you share the repair progress with us.
