CD-22 Hurricane Katrina Victim on eBay - It's ours!!

We stayed up until 3:30 am last night to be the winning bidders on a Cape Dory 22 on eBay that was a Hurricane Katrina victim. Got her for $859.99. We haven't even seen her yet, but we are very excited to get her shipped up here to our home port of Essex, MD so that we can get to work on her repairing the damage. We will be joining the Chesapeake Bay Fleet as soon as we have the info on our boat and we hope to see some of you out there this summer.
This is our second Cape Dory. Our first boat, 25 years ago, was a Typhoon. We're well aware what great boats they are and how lucky we were to get the boat at this price!!

Congratulations on your purchase! I took a peek at the CD22 on Ebay. You've got some work ahead of you but she looks like a fine boat. I hope you share the repair progress with us.

Glad you got your project boat to work on. Like you, I like to work on these fine old ladies.

I saw what was described as a CD30 salvage on EBay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/clear-ti ... otohosting Lot of cosmetic damage and maybe some rudder and stanchion work. I was interested for a while but there are a few things that made me shy away. It could be simple mistakes or errors but I haven't heard from the seller yet after contacting him twice.

First, the exterior shots of this CD appear to be a CD33. There is a listing on YachtWorld for this boat http://www.yachtworld.com/core/listing/ ... lim=quick& and there are 5 bronze ports on each side.

Second, the USCG documentation for this boat indicates it's a 1976 as opposed to the 1977 listed.

Third, the seller has never sold anything on EBay.

The inside appears to be a CD30 as does the pic of galley.

The seller must have salvage rights as he is not the listed owner on the USCG documentation. But he does claim to have a clear title.

However, having said all this, it looks like a good project boat and i was interested for a while. But I would have preferred a smaller CD to put in my small lake such as a typhoon or CD22.

As a previous owner of a 22 for 12 years she is a fine vessel.

We have a CD31, #85, and Santa brought us a Typhoon, #1655, to restore so we are where you were earlier in your sailing career.

Please keep us updated since part of the joy of sailing is learning that another boat is being given new life.

If the hull id no. is correct, that is the 16th CD 30 made, it was a five port ketch and it was built in September 1976, which would be the first month of the 1977 model year. Hopefully she will find a new owner to get her back on her feet.
