Re: Cape Dory 30 cutter - from wheel to tiller
We have done it also, made a short shaft to connect to the 1 inch rudder shaft. The Rig Right was an 1 1/8 so we used a coupling that connected the two. The bearing tube is fiberglass and the two bearing are PTFE. I did not see a need to cut off what is there. The tiller head is Rig Right. The shaft...

Re: Trading a CD30 for a CD Ty Eastern VA
Yes it would. I have found the pickings to be very slim for a Ty I would trade down to.Typhoon4Fun wrote:Maine is at least on the same coast! Sailing DE up to Maine and then sailing a TySr home would be quite the adventure...

Trading a CD30 for a CD Ty Eastern VA
My wife and I were kicking around the idea to day, while we were sailing of looking at maybe trading our CD30 for a Ty. The Ty would have to be fairly local and would need to be ready to walk on and sail. Newer sails, outboard, trailer and upgrades. Our CD 30 is ready to walk on and sail We are loca...

Re: Old Spartan Seacocks - Do they have any value?
You would think they would. But I have not found that not to be the case with anything surplus. Someone will take them if you give them to them and they don't have to pay shipping. Try the Cape Dory Facebook page or Sailnet. They get a lot of more traffic. My local recycle place is where I sent all ...

Just adding my two cents - I've gone through your post and there is a lack of pictures. Pictures. Pictures. Pictures. People still eat with their eyes. Sincerely, A man that bought a 28', 3 states away basically, over the internet for almost the same price. Bless your little heart, thank you for yo...

Re: Defender’s Warehouse update
This is what West told me last time I asked to price match. It has to be a local store. Within 50 miles. Their policy now states this. Price Match Guarantee If you find a lower price on an identical product at a local retail store, West Marine will match that price within 30 days of purchase. We wil...

Re: Cape Dory 30 So what should she sell for? TRADES?
It is interesting to read what others have spent on their CD30's Like them I also spent as much on repairs and upgrades (around NZ$25k) as I did on the purchase of my CD30 "Wisp" registered at Jekyll Island. In Wellington New Zealand, I sold the vessel in 2009 for $45,000 New Zealand doll...

Does it have any outputs for external speakers? A relay out that could go to an external device? If not I don't think you have much of an option.

Re: VHF Help:)?
Thanks so much eveyone - really great insights. My guess is, based on your advice, that either I attached the new connector at the VHF poorly - or the radio is fried, as I had tried to get radio checks on multiple occasions - or both. I have an emergency attenna stored onboard so perhaps I will use...

Re: Beautiful Pictures of a Cape Dory 22, CD22 - Salvagable?
I agree with everyone's good advice. You did not state your budget. Price out ball park what stuff will cost. Old outboards that have been sitting can be unreliable and the average do it yourselfer can't do much with them. Nothing worst they showing up to sail on that perfect day and the engine won'...
