Re: MD7A Oil Change
My new best friend is the decompression lever. I had no idea what that thing did. I went out to the boat, bled the engine fuel filter and cranked it again with the decompression lever engaged. I flipped the lever over and presto bango, she fired right up. Maybe air, maybe weak battery, who knows. Bu...

Re: MD7A Oil Change
Thanks everyone. I changed the reverse gear (transmission) oil this afternoon. I put in SAE 30 Shell Rotella as that’s what I used in the engine. I think next time I change the oil, I’ll try to use the drain plugs just to make sure I get all of the old oil out. I’ve been using a topsider to suck the...

MD7A Oil Change
I'm changing the oil in my CD30 with the Volvo MD7A. From what I can tell, there are 3 systems with oil: 1. the engine itself 2. the reverse gear 3. the reduction gear I have sucked out the oil in the engine through the dipstick and replaced it with Shell Rotella, SAE 30. No problems there except SA...

Re: CD30 wet exhaust routing - looking for pics
Thanks Keith. Here are pics of my Vetus water lock and the exhaust as it’s routed to the transom exhaust. I haven’t connected the exhaust to the water lock yet as I don’t want to cut the hose until I’m confident in the routing. When I removed the old exhaust hose, it was a straight run from the engi...

CD30 wet exhaust routing - looking for pics
I am replacing the wet exhaust in my CD30 (Volvo MD7A) and was hoping someone had pictures of their wet exhaust routing. I have an aftermarket Vetus NLP45 waterlock and don't know what the original exhaust routing looked like. Thanks! -david

Re: Here we go again
Mike, the storm surge was way more than I ever expected. Sorry to hear about the rub rail. I'm missing a chunk on the starboard and port side of mine from a previous storm. I haven't replaced it yet. I plan on hauling mine out next month. Is there a place you recommend for bottom work, or do you do ...

Re: Here we go again
I finally made it out to the boat today and was able to climb aboard. Everything was fine. She leaks like normal and there was a ton of water in the bilge, but other than that I didn't notice anything damaged. Time to make my boat dry. I'm tired of constantly pumping the bilge out. Let's hope no mor...

Re: MD7A temperature gage
I had an overheating issue with mine and wanted to know what temperatures corresponded with the gauge colors. Here is my data. This will vary based on sender and gauge, so I don't know if it will be of any help to you. Eventually I want to change the gauge to one that outputs actual temp versus the ...

Re: Here we go again
I went to check on mine this morning but I couldn’t make it out to the boat. Low tide is 8:30 this evening so I might be able to make it then.

Re: Here we go again
Well the dock at Post’l Point is 1 foot under water. I loosened the dock lines, but I won’t be back to check the boat until the storm has moved on.

Re: Here we go again
Mike,
Let me know if you need a hand with anything. I’m on the other side of the Rocky Bayou bridge, so literally 5 minutes away. My CD30 is sitting on Eglin at Post’l Point and I have no idea how she’s doing. I’m sure their docks are underwater as well.

Re: Cracked bowsprit & question on wood adhesives
John, Thanks for taking the time on the response. I’ll have to check out the book. I did find cascophen, a resorcinol adhesive at: https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/wppages/cascophen.php And https://www.wicksaircraft.com/shop/cascophen-kit/?attribute_pa_size=1-pint-kit&attribute_pa_sold-by=...

Cracked bowsprit & question on wood adhesives
I really need to address my cracked bowsprit. I'd rather not replace it just yet as I have other, bigger issues to address. I'm thinking glue and clamps, and possible drilling in a few long screws from the sides. I think that will get me through until next year. This got me thinking about what type ...

Re: MD7A PARTS ALL SOLD, TO THE METAL RECYCLER, TKS FOR LOOK
Unfortunately, I didn’t see any of these posts. I still have an MD7A in mine and while it seems to be working, I would have been interested. -David
