Re: CD33 with tiller ?
I've got a CD33 with a wheel, don't think they came any other way?? The only issue (not a big one) is getting by the wheel in the cockpit. Not sure if a tiller would be a complication with a full cockpit, maybe 4 people and the Captain? John Stone would be a good source about that. It's true that th...

Re: Lazy Jacks -Yea or nay!
Lazy Jacks and a Stack pack have been a total game changer for us on Miss Maggie. If it's blowing 20 Knots with a good chop running it's simple and safe to drop the main, go into the harbor, and settle up the sail at the mooring or at anchor. I made the stack pack from Sailrite videos and modified i...

Re: Ventilation under settees
Paul D , All really good sugestions! We also keep the head port open, but I hadn't thought about limber holes and wash board screens. Miss Maggie also has a dodger, so that should work. I'll check for drainage behind the panels. Thanks for the reply.

Ventilation under settees
In Miss Maggie (CD33) there is moisture collecting on the wood panels near the floor boards under the settees. (About 2 inches near the cabin sole) More at the aft corners. These panels are varnished, so I haven't yet refinished them since the bottom edges are damp. The water tanks are there so I re...

Re: Water under engine in molded pan.
Thanks for the info. I'll try blocking the vents at least when not running the engine. Glad to hear others have the same thing happening. I had antifreeze overflow too, and installed a plastic bottle for the overflow tube coming from the reservoir in the port cockpit locker.

Water under engine in molded pan.
I've noticed that water collects under the engine in the molded pan in my cd33. The pan fills , but the bilge pump rarely runs so I don't think it's allot of water? I've assumed it's due to leakage from the stuffing box. Could be the cockpit lockers leak a bit too? Do others have this happening? :?:

Re: Slip or mooring fees
In Rye harbor New Hampshire I pay $396/year for the mooring that I own for a CD 33. The chain is about what Frenchy in New Bedford has but bottom is 3/4 and the top chain is 5/8. They get replaced as needed. 3 - 5 years? There a parking permit for $75 and a skiff permit for $50. The winter storage a...

Re: Gel Coat Guidance
I think of the thin cracks as character lines. Sort of like wrinkles on your face that come with age. They've been earned though living a good life. Big gel coat dings are a different story. I've had good luck fixing those with Evercoat formula 27 and then gel coat above the water line, or epoxy and...

Re: Cockpit control lines
Thanks for all the input. You've convinced me to not use cockpit control lines. What I'll do instead is improve/install jack lines and tether points. Then " tie in" more often to go forward to deal with dousing and reefing. Buy the way I also find no need to secure the bunt of the main whe...

Cockpit control lines
Has anyone installed cockpit control lines for the main sail? I've got a CD33 (Miss Maggie hull #12) with all the halyards etc. at the mast and am thinking of running the main halyard, a main down-haul, and the 1st reef tack and clew lines back to the cockpit. The jib is on a roller furler that alre...

Re: Sail Pack for CD33
Thanks for the info! I was hoping someone had taken these measurements. My Main is loose footed, the sail slides up the mast are 1.75 inch long every 27 inches? Maybe at some point can contribute to this forum instead of just asking questions. Thanks again.

Sail Pack for CD33
Anybody make a sail pack for a CD33? The Sailrite people have good instructions, but it requires three mainsail dimensions before you can proceed. 1. Girth of the mainsail at the tack, 2. girth of sail at 18 inches forward of the clew, and 3. length of the foot of the sail. I'd like to do this proje...

Re: CD Typhoon winter cover
Don't know if you like to sew or have a machine, but here's some instructions from Sailrite. They're a good company with lots of info on canvas projects of all types. I recently made a Dodger for my CD33 and except for the price of the machine, it was pretty cost effective compared to having one mad...

Re: Head Stay chain plate
Thanks everyone for the info! I think the "Gap" has been there quite awhile. It was present when I bought the boat in 2014, at least at some level. I can't say if it's any worst now? It's good to hear another CD33 has a similar bow plate gap. ("Miss Maggie" was called "Metro...
