Re: need a working jib for Typhoon Weekender
I have a Precision main on my TY. I couldn’t justify the threefold cost of a name brand locally built sail, as this is not my primary boat. It’s a great sail at a great price. I like it enough that a Precision 110 jib is on its way to me via USPS. Might get it tomorrow.

Re: Honda or Tohatsu outboard for dinghy
I have an older Honda 2, short shaft that we use on our Dyer, and just bought a 2.3 long shaft for the TY. In calm conditions I can easily get 4 k in the TY at mid throttle. I only use E zero, which I buy at a station near a race track. Loud if throttled up (I don’t) and automatic clutch does requir...

Re: Want to Interview Former Cape Dory Staff & Mgrs for Arti
Dave Cabral worked for CD and suggested to me that he had a hand in building the 1978 CD 28 that I had for many years. When I knew him he was the yard manager at Brewer Sakonnet Marina in Portsmouth, RI. He left there a few years ago, and at the time he lived in Little Compton, RI. The guys at the y...

Re: New Typhoon Owner - Lake Champlain
Even with the Triad tongue extension I could not get deep enough to float off. I used a tow strap to extend the reach and buried the trailer except the winch stand to float her off.

Thanks for posting this project. Please do not mistake the lack of dialogue for lack of interest. Ty owners and wannabes are no doubt loving the post. Nice job!

Re: Trailer launching on a ramp that isn't steep enough
I have the same boat and same trailer and same problem. I used the tow strap solution with good results. However, at time of haulout I had the yard lift her to the trailer.

Re: Cetol Interlux Special Thinner 216
I've used a great deal of Cetol with excellent results. Given the amount of labor involved I don't pinch pennies on the materials. For my time, it's just not worth it. Detailed instructions are provided by the manufacturer. The darker versions absorb more sunlight, ie heat, and shorten the life of t...

Yes...auger type left over from my "boat barn," (temporary structure) and cheap ratchet straps. In our soil you get a good upper body workout screwing those anchors in!

Re: S/V Bali Ha'i is on her trailer at home in the driveway. I have her strapped down to the trailer with two (2) substantial web straps. Right now the mast is lying fore/aft and resting on the pulpit/pushpit. I may try to bring the mast down and put it on the ground. Not sure. I don't know of anyth...

Re: Typhoon Weekender Correct for me?
I am 6'1" and 235#. All previous observations have been my experience, and because I'm heavy I really appreciate the stiffness of the boat. I can stand on the rail at the mast and have no fear of excessive heel.

Re: Cape dory typhoon hull ID numbers?
Has the boat been painted? If so, some minor excavation of filler, primer and paint might well reveal the hull ID number.

Re: Does any one know what these are?
They are fiddles which clamp onto the front edge of the stove, and "hug" the pot. The gimbal of the stove holds the pots in place when the boat rolls back and forth. The fiddles hold the pots in place when the boat pitches fore and aft. These are necessary when cooking underway.
