Re: Typhoon main boom pulley arrangement?

I think you'll find this to be as originally fitted. Zoom in for a better view of your interests.

Re: Typhoons what to look for and expect in a used boat

Regarding float on-float off launch and retrieval...the slope of the ramp is critical. Too shallow a slope will require a third wheel (on the tongue) and disconnecting the trailer hitch (keeping her attached another way, obviously), even with the extended tongue, and letting the rig out far enough t...

Re: Torqueedo Outboard motor for a Typhoon Weekender?

Susan, The J4 long shaft has been perfect for me too. Here's what I wrote last year about mine... "The Johnson Sailmaster 4 did not run when I bought the boat; in fact it was a complete mess! The PO did not want me to have the motor because of its condition, but my offer included the non-runnin...

Re: Typhoon Angle of point on a beat

:) , you want the best velocity made good towards a target to weather. Often I find that "cracking off" when close hauled, and foregoing the highest point of sail, increases boat speed enough to more than compensate for steering away from my destination. Pinching kills boat speed, thus &q...

Fantastic! How about a solar charger for your digital devices? Then you could ditch the XP 1.

Re: CD 18 Typhoon removing electrics

I have seen a few Typhoons with a six (?) circuit fuse panel mounted in the drop board which contains the head area. Mine had this with old crusty retired wires to nowhere attached. No evidence of running lights, cabin lights or any other electrical components. Kind of a head scratcher...bad pun int...

Re: Grounding Plate

The first thing we checked after the strike was the thru hulls, as they are known to get blown out by a strike. BTW...the nearby taller rigs did nothing to protect us!

Re: Grounding Plate

I and two friend were aboard my CD 28 when lightning struck in the middle of the night. We were all in our bunks, but awake due to the raucous nature of things. The strike was clearly focused on the masthead, as the gear aloft was reduced to splinters landing all over the deck. The rust on the chain...

Re: Ty Standing Rigging Check & Replace Option

Skeep... I bought Caral about a year ago, and knew the rigging was tired. I didn't do anything about it at the time because I was preoccupied with other aspects of the project. When I got around to launching I found one of the turnbuckles taped, and when I removed the tape I found broken strands of ...

Re: Northeast Move

You might want to look into Uship.com. You could likely find someone to carry the boat on the trailer on a truck to your destination.

Here's what I've been using on the toe rail. Almost sure they're the same on the rub rail. 3/8"
