Re: New CD28 Lazy Beaver
Roger, cockpit softness is often because of water in the balsa core....keep it dry and it will last forever. Unfortunately my previous owner dis not so I replaced my core with resin soaked marine plywood. I also put stringers under the cockpit itself. You might want to take a good look in your chain...

Re: 4hp 4stroke mercury outboard very difficult to start
Airfields sell alcohol free fuel. Also all gas stations in South Dakota have pumps sans alcohol in the gas....interesting since much if the added alcohol is distilled from corn within sight of some of the gas stations. Had a motor that did the same thing as yours.....found an obstruction just below ...

I would watch for softness in cockpit sole. Easy fix if done early.

Re: December 28, 2020 Rappahannock River
The first photos show myself and the “admiral” of 37 years. Second set shows brother on law and significant other. There was actually a cold snap with temp dropping into the 60s at night. Prior week’s weather as notes had some signifiant winds which may have contributed to the loss of the power boat...

Re: Going aloft
As a climber, I would strongly recommend use of ascenders or three prussic (chest, and one for each leg) knots. Technique is commonly used for self rescue after falling into a crevasse on a glacier and the process can be readily goggled. It is very safe minus failure of the halyard. Use a second lin...

Re: CD28 dimensions question
Shipped my CD 30 from Virginia to Key West for 3k a couple of years ago. Spring is best for Shipping south due to shippers moving boats north and no wanting to drive south empty. To west coast (Washington state) as estimated to be about 10 k. No issue with CD and height (to go under bridges) and my ...

Are you willing to sell, rent or loan out the trailer? I assume it’s set up with dial axles and for more than storage.

Re: Do you winterize your bilge if you can't get the water o
I installed a drain on my Cape Dory which keeps things dry over the winter by allowing rain water that leaks in to drain out. If boat is stored on the hard each winter in freezing temps, I would recommend this approach. For removal of bilge water while at a mooring I used a section of broom handle w...
