I have a Corinthian, and they are great little sailboats.

Re: CD TY Daysailor -Furled or hanked on jib
I raced my Corinthian 19, which is really just an overweight Typhoon, and used hank on headsails. I did very well against boats that used roller headsails. The hank on sails always seemed to have a better set, than the rollers. http://farm5.staticflickr.com/4111/5223405729_868d7818a9.jpg Phoenix-201...

Re: Hand cranking 1GM
If you have 120vac at the boat, use a "heatgun" aimed into the air intake when you crank the motor. It will even start a wornout diesel with bad rings. I know, because I used it to start an old Albin 20hp diesel before I rebuilt the motor. The heatgun forces hot air under pressure into the...

Re: Seller's rant
I have sold a few boats in the last 5 years. I found that the boat sold quickly and easily if I did my home work and priced it at my best price "FIRM". 2 of my boats sold the first day of advertising, to the first caller. And they weren't priced below fair market value either. I believe so...

Re: trailering a 25D
I use a Ford F350 pickup with a 5.4L gas engine and automatic transmission to pull my Bristol 24 and Privateer 26 on 3 axle standard hitch trailers. I 've pulled them from Florida to Illinois, and North Carolina to Illinois, as well as locally. Both rigs weigh about 8000lbs. The 350 handles the trai...

Re: Gorilla Glue vs. Epoxy
I would also go with thickened epoxy for the scarf joint. However; the polyurethane gorilla glue works great for filling in a small, wet soft spot in the deck or cockpit. I recently repaired a small spot on my deck. I drilled several 1/4" holes through the top layer of fiberglass, that was cove...

Re: Diesel Problem: New Noise and Lack of Power
Occams' Razor. The simplest answer is probably correct. Air in the fuel, or restriction in fuel flow, or bad fuel, account for most diesel problems like you describe. Dirty injectors caused by fuel problems could also be the cause. The odds of a burnt valve, timing problem, or valve clearance proble...

Re: How to build a Typhoon trailer
I made a trailer to fit my Sailstar Corinthian, (Bristol 19) from an old 2 axle power boat trailer. I removed the bunks, added a piece of channel for the keel, and welded in 1 1/2" pipes and braces for the adjustable pads. I put a rubber "vee" pad up front and a winch to pull the boat...

If you can remove the shaft and prop as a unit; the easy way of then removing the prop is to remove the nut, then plunge the prop end in boiling water for a minute. If the prop doesn't drop off; drop the shaft, prop end first, onto a piece of hard wood or aluminum on a concrete floor. The inertia of...

I called the CG doc, office a couple weeks ago to find out about documenting my Cheoy Lee 31. I was told they are at least 4 months behind. They also said I could ask for them to expidite my application if I had a good reason. I sent my ap. in with a letter stating I was leaving soon, on a several m...

Corinthian
That boat is shaped almost the same as my Sailstar Corinthian, (Bristol 19). Looks bigger though. The Corinthian is the Typhoon's big sister. It was drawn by Alberg about the same time as the TY.

14" 2 blade bronze prop
For sale or trade, a Michigan Sailor 2 blade bronze prop, 14" dia, with a 7/8" tapered bore. The hub is 2.564" long, the bore is .880" x .715" with a 1/4" key. The pitch is 10. Couple small dings, but in very good, bright, shiney condition otherwise. Can email pictures....

Adjustable pads
make the most sense to me. I've built 2 trailers. 1 for a Bristol 24, and 1 for a Bristol 19. The 19 is almost identical to a TY. I used 4, one foot square pads with 1 1/4" screws for adjustment on the 19's trailer. I dry sail both boats. They can be easily launched and recovered on the trailer...

I hope they never stop
Thank God for people like Abby Sunderland. The world would be a dull, and frightening place if we stopped people from living their dreams. It's worth the risk! There are 6 billion people swarming on the surface of the world. If some die in the realization of their dreams; it's their business. I don'...

oil leak
I have a YSE8 on my Bristol 24. I used to have oil come out of the breather tube sometimes when I sailed heeled over. I fixed the problem by slipping a clear vinyl hose over the tube, and securing the end above the top of the engine. Haven't lost any since. It sounds like you might be getting a litt...
