Looking for Typhoon Weekender Rudder

A friend lost his rudder while racing his Typhoon Weekender on Wednesday. The rudder broke off of the rudder post. If you have one or know of one available for sale please respond.

Thanks,

Re: typhoon riging tension

There are over 50 CD Tys in our area here on the Rappahannock River, Virginia. The accepted tension in our fleet is 15 outside, 10 inside. The back-stay should be loose. The fore-stay works well around 5. We race our Tys and are currently in the third week of our Wednesday Fall Series. Rigging tensi...

Re: Torqueedo Outboard motor for a Typhoon Weekender?

Susan, I sail/race my Typhoon Weekender on the Rappahannock River in Virginia. There are over 50, that's right, 50 Typhoons in our immediate area. I would say one half of the owners, including myself, use the Honda 2.0-2.3 hp long shaft. It pushes us at hull speed and weighs only 28 lbs. Most of us ...

Re: Typhoon Boom Vang & luff tension

Re. the boom vang, I use the cam at the boom and find it easy to reach, except when running, and pull down to tighten. It is also easy to release. Just a suggestion.

PAINTING UNDER KEEL TYPHOON

I use a different approach. I use my Jeep jack, a cinder block, and a piece of 2x4x12" to first jack up the rear ( I have about 12" keel overhang - the 2x4 against the keel bottom), then the bow, just enough to apply paint. A piece of low pile carpet works well -- apply paint to carpet and...

Irvington has two yards that can handle your needs. Custom Yacht Service would be my first choice. A call to John Friday, 438-5563, would give you an idea of cost. Their work is A1. Good Luck

Typhoon Nationals

OOPS!!! I misunderstood. Thought you were a Ty sailor. Will be looking for STARVIEW. Most of the Ty sailors in our fleet (many if whom you probably know) have, at one time, cruised on larger boats -- mine was a '78 Pearson 35 that we enjoyed sailing the Bay until I realized it was time to "upsi...

Typhoon Nationals

Hi Mitchell: So far, there will be 33 Typhoons sailing next weekend in the first ever Typhoon Nationals racing on the beautiful Rappahannock River. There are several options for leaving your Ty on Carters Creek Friday: anchor, as you have indicated -- we will arrange for a tender to pick you up; tie...

Ty Instrument Location

Hi Joe: Awhile back I (actually, my son) posted pictures of Ladybug including a wooden instrument panel I made and attached under the companionway top to the wood support. It is recessed enough to clear the boards. On the panel I installed a depth finder (small Uniden), GPS, and digital count down t...
