North Carolina to Maine
A friend just bought a Bristol 42 trawler that's sitting in New Bern, North Carolina and I have offered to help her bring it back to Maine next May. Does anyone have suggestions on which guides would be most helpful. Especially from New Bern to Rhode Island as I have done the Rhode Island to Maine l...

CD33 For Sale
I have decided to put Lola up for sale. She is a 1981 CD33 with a 2008 Yanmar 3YM30 diesel with 240 hours. Many upgrades and additions in the past few years including all new Raymarine electronics including 12" color chartplotter, 24 mile radar with overlay on to chartplotter, ST60 depth, wind ...

Re: Aqua Signal change to LED
Thanks Russell. That's all good advice. We'll give it a try this weekend.

Aqua Signal change to LED
I am about to crank my wife up the mast in the bosun's chair to change the anchor light to an LED. I have the Aqua Signal series 40 tri-color, anchor and strobe combination unit. Can anyone tell me (so I can tell her) if any tools are required to access the anchor light bulb or how the unit opens? T...

Brownell Boat Stands
I have used these stands on a CD27 and a CD33 but after selling my house I no longer have room to store them. I have 4 model SB-2 with 2 safety chains and 1 model SB-2V. $400 for the set.

Joe, I haven't owned an RIB or even been in one that wasn't tied to the dinghy dock so I can't compare. I have been using a Dyer Dhow for several years and, of course, the pudgy is way more stable then the Dyer. The pudgy reviews all say that it rows like a dream....It rows OK. I don't have the sail...

Portland Pudgy
It took me 5 years of mulling it over but I finally bit the bullet and bought a Portland Pudgy. Now my 2.5 Yamaha regular shaft outboard won't work. I dug my old Motorguide electric motor out of the basement and tried it today. I love how quiet it is but it struggles going in to the wind. I'm thinki...

Thanks Joe for the response. The yard I have been using for the last few years is Winterport Marine and they have been very good about letting owners do their own work. It's located several miles up the Penobscot River. The yard I'm looking at is the Atlantic Boat Company yard in Brooklin. The yard ...

Considering a New Boat Yard
I have been looking in to a new boat yard for off season storage and, although this new (to me) yard seems very nice and is in a great location, it has many more restrictions then the previous yard. I applaud their efforts to be environmentally conscious but I am having a little sticker shock. Does ...

Help with diesel
My old Yanmar diesel engine had a little hand lever pump attached to the engine that I would use to bleed the lines after changing the fuel filter. Now I have this fancy 3YM30 that, I understand, is self bleeding but I don't know what that means. Do I just change the filter and crank the engine or i...

List of projects
I've gotten so far as starting to make a list of things I would like to add or get done. I would like to add a windlass but am finding it quite tricky on a 33, macerator, midship chocks, washdown pump at the bow and a 2nd house battery. It all sounds so simple sitting here in my living room.

Using a whisker pole
The CD33 I bought last fall came with a forespar whisker pole and I have used it a lot this summer but I'm not sure I am using it correctly. The problem I seem to have quite often is the pole sliding down the line in light air or inconsistant air during the lulls. Is there some trick that I'm missing?

I saved the cork from a wine bottle we opened last night. I think the size will be just about perfect. Al, I too would think a hole in the side of the bilge would find salt water. Maybe a previous owner drilled the hole for some project they were doing then re-glasses the keel but not the bilge side...
