Hello Debbie and Brian:

If your plans route you through Southeast Florida, let me know. A good place to rest, regroup, reprovision, etc. is Coconut Grove Sailing Club.

Are you moving north for the summer? Or staying in New Bern till the boat sells? I will be in Oriental in a couple days, not planning a side trip to New Bern, but if you are underway our paths may cross again.

Yes we are moving North in about 2 weeks and are still in New Bern. Let us know when you are in Oriental and we'll come down to say hi. If you need anything we've got a car. Judy on Bentana told of your loss, so sorry to hear that. We lost Clamshell 2 weeks ago. Looking forward to catching up with you.

Brian & Debbie:

What's going on? We have been working hard and out of the CD news loop recently. Are you selling your boat?

If not what are your plans this sailing season?

We are about to set out within the next two weeks. Going to attempt Labrador this year. Saw ice bergs for the first time last year --- hope to see polar bears this year. Only time will tell how far we will go.

Sending best wishes you way,
Philip & Sharon

Great to hear from you. We've changed plans a little. Boat is for sale but we are in no hurry to sell it, just bought a condo in Spring Hill, Fl. We'll be headed back to New Bern, NC where we spent the winter to bring the boat back to Maine. Then next winter we'll have her hauled and become a snowbird. Maybe we'll be able to catch up with you before you head back in the fall. Safe travels.

Re: Sailing Maine

Post by Evergreen »

Brian & Debbie:

Sorry to hear that you may sell your Cape Dory. But if you make it back to Maine perhaps the excellent sailing there will convince you to keep her. Actually in all our travels we have found Maine to be the best place for sailing!! In addition, going long distances seems to always involve motoring. When we stay home, that is when we sail the most.

The "snow bird" thing is a good way to go. That way you get the best of both worlds.

Hopefully we will see you if you are still in the water when we return from our trip this season. Now we keep our boat in Harpswell. Hope to do the Labrador coast this year so we may get back on the late side.

Best wishes,
Philip & Sharon
