Help with diesel

Post by Doug Oliver »

My old Yanmar diesel engine had a little hand lever pump attached to the engine that I would use to bleed the lines after changing the fuel filter. Now I have this fancy 3YM30 that, I understand, is self bleeding but I don't know what that means. Do I just change the filter and crank the engine or is there another way to push fuel through. There is no mention of how it's done in the manual. I would appreciate any tips.

Your operating manual should describe the process. I have a new Volvo diesel that is 'self bleeding'........there is however one (1) bleed screw near a manual fuel pump to deal with. Just changed filters and oils last week, bleeding was a piece of cake.
