Mast wiring through deck??

On my old boat I was able to purchase water tight 12 volt plugs to run the wires for the mast--came from Sea dog I think. On our CD 25 the wiring runs through the mast step and the connectors are inside the mast. I like this method because it leaves things uncluttered and the connectors are out of s...

Tabernacle--Raising mast

When we neared completion of the rebuild on our CD25 I had a new mast tabernacle--step plate welded up here in Mobile by a local fabricator. Our mast is too heavy to raise by hand so I devised a sort of crane which fits on the front of our trailer and makes it very easy to raise and lower our mast. ...

Cradle plans

I used his plans---actually the dimensions he was kind enough to send me to build a steel cradle for our CD 25. We picked it up in Cape Coral FL and trailered it back to Mobile, it was about 600 miles. We didn't have any problems whatsoever--floated the boat on, lowered the mast and away we went. I ...

Do your own work--peace of mind knowing it was done right

The nice thing about doing the work yourself is in knowing it was done correctly. If you hire all your work out how will you ever know this?

Green Eyed Lady in the water--first time out yesterday!

Last week we trailer launched our CD 25, 1974, #76 at our club here in Mobile. We raised the mast and launched her at high tide, around 11:00 PM. Yesterday we took her out for a little shake down in Mobile Bay, actually this was our first time out with her. Despite the furler jamming and the brand n...

Re: Trailerable 25

We have a 25, we modified a traditional sailboat trailer with a cradle, just for the CD25, put it in the water (it does have an extendable tongue), for 30days, then recovered it for Katrina. All from the Deck. If the launch is deep enough, and the trailor made correctly and you have help witht he m...

Serial Number lookup

Can anyone help me ID a boat based on the serial number: UYC361460479, I don't think it's a Dory, but it was a really nice boat before Katrina came to visit.

Thank you,

Frieda

Connector size

The connector is about an inch and a half in diameter and six inches in length. To get exact dimensions call Allied Electric. I can only tell you that this was what I needed for my boat.

I had to find a connector

You mentioned using a junction box and I certainly considered using such but on our application it wouldn't have worked very well. I wanted a radar unit on our CD25 because there are a good number of large ships coming and going here in Mobile as well as power pleasure boats of every description. I ...

Radar cable connector

You can get a connector by calling 251-476-1875, ask for Kay Wright and tell her you want a connector like the one garrette Dylewski purchased earlier in the week. Keep in mind it was pricy--cost $158.15 including shipping.

Splice for JRC radar cable

Finding an inline connector that will work on the main cable of our JRC 1500 radar unit has been difficult. The problem is that the cable has 3 number 10 awg wires as well as 5 number 26 wires plus a ground -- 9 pins alltogether of different sizes. I was advised that such a device didn't exist, part...

Woodworking experience?

Todd-- in response to your question about experience I can tell you that I have never built hatches before. Once the project got going it simply wasn't such a big deal, a lot of careful measuring and cutting, screwing and plugging and caulking. Anyone can do it if they set their mind to it.

my hatch solution

When we purchased our CD25 we had a serious hatch problem--there were none! The PO had lost them during transport from Chicago to Cape Coral, they blew off while going down the interstate. I made a new sliding companionway hatch and cover from teak. The cover is removable and is secured with anti-ra...
