Typhoon foredeck cleat
Has anyone re bedded their fore deck cleat? I'm curious as to what I will be looking at when I cut away the fiberglass from inside the cabin. For now I'm going to add another cleat. If anyone has done this I'd appreciate advise on the location. I can add 2 more to match forward or just one forward o...

I have the same issue. I have the straight motor mount. I think with the angled mount it's not as bad.

John, right on about that. That's this weeks project. I was watching that yesterday, it is nose diving a bit.

towing line
Thanks OJ, I have tried that. If I let it out too far, the dinghy ends up surfing out away from the boat, sometimes catching up and being along side. Granted it won't hit the boat but then it becomes a candidate for swamping or overturning. The problem is it's too efficient in the water, much faster ...

Dinghy towing problems
Any advise recommendations would be appreciated. I've already researched the archives and am planning on experimenting the funnel technique. I found a great 9 6","Peapod" style, fiberglass lapstrake sailing dinghy with teak seats and trim. It rows wonderfully and is quite the looker. U...

all off
Tim, thanks for the advise. It's the best thing I could have done. Everything is off that was reasonable to take off. Already cleaned sanded and first coat of Cetol on.

Typhoon teak trim
Question for those who have done it or know. Would I be opening up a can of worms by taking off the trim around the cabin hatch for refinishing? How are the screws bedded? I'd leave them in place to finish, but the weather is going to kill my timetable so I'd just as soon remove them and take them h...

Sail it!
It will be cheaper and very rewarding. Just get the rigging and motor well checked before you go. Be prepared to arrange to leave it on a mooring somewhere midway if the weather doesn't co operate. Previous posts were correct, there are many who will help. I'd be happy to help bring you from Westpor...

emergency steering
One of the Ty's I looked at before I bought mine had a small ( 1/8- 3/16?") hole drilled in the upper part of the rudder. The owner who was an old sea dog said it was to loop a line thru for emergency steering. Of course, it requires one to go overboard to set it up, but it's not a bad idea. I ...

Ty motor
I haven't removed mine but I'm thinking of a way to secure it better. There have been a few occasions where the pounding has concerned me with the standard Ty bracket. I've been thinking of securing it thru the deck with some sort of shock absorbing rubber between the bracket and the deck.

I would put replacing the rigging up near or at the top of the to do list. It's short money to replace it all and start fresh relative to the problems you might have if you don't.

Ty addict
John, They are nice little boats, I've met quite a few people who have moved on to larger boats but haven't parted with their Ty's. Just for the record, that's about what I paid for mine also. I know I'll never recover the money if I start putting on "improvements" like dodgers. I ask myse...

Typhoon sailors; advise/opinions on a dodger?
Can I get some feed back on dodgers? Has anyone local to me (Buzzards Bay) had one made? Or, is there someone that has made them for other Ty's that I can contact. Also, any plans or pictures of ones made. Additionally, for next season, a jib furling system is on the want list, I'm not sure if that ...
