Re: Starter wiring problem, maybe?

I had a similar problem a couple of years ago and installed relay, replaced starter switch, upgraded wiring, and even had starter rebuilt. The issue didn't resolve until I installed a new starter motor. I hope your problem has an easier and less expensive resolution.

Re: Whale Gusher hand pump

Are the metal parts of the pump in good shape? If the metal is corroded it can prevent the valves from sealing properly.

Hello, I found the video from North Sails to be helpful when thinking about trying to fly a spinnaker. After studying the videos for several days and then spending a couple of hours checking that the lines were fair and rigged reasonably, I was once able to fly the spinnaker for several seconds! And...

Water

It is possible to get significant condensation under the cover and inside the boat, especially if ventilation is limited.

Anyone who is interested in a history of the Beaufort scale, may want to read: Defining the Wind: The Beaufort Scale, and How a 19th-Century Admiral Turned Science into Poetry by Scott Huler. Not to take anything away from the very talented writers who regularly post on this board, but Huler describ...

Miami Strictly Sail

Wondering if any CD'ers are planning to attend the boat show in Miami over the weekend. I am hoping to escape from the New England chill for a few days and plan to go the show on Monday the 19th. If anyone would like to meet or get together please let me know. Thank you.

Hi.
I'm not sure if they will sell only the tapered plug. I remember hearing something about needing to buy the entire unit to ensure a proper fit and avoid leaks. Good luck

Brown bottom paint

Last year I ordered a gallon of brown Micron Extra through my local West Marine, and by ordering it during their spring sale I got it at the sale price. I picked it up at the store to avoid the shipping charge. If you order it from any online vendor, there is usually a hazardous material shipping ch...

Thanks so much for your response. The boat is tied up to starboard, and the goal is to turn the stern to port. There is another boat in the adjacent slip where the pivot point is. I am not looking at establishing a competition in backing up out of the slip, but it was suggested that it would be easy...

Minimum channel width to back out of slip

I concede that with favorable wind and current, a seasoned skipper can occasionally coax the stern of a CD to go in a particular direction when backing out of a slip. My question for the board is, what is the minimum channel width that allows for a reasonable chance of successfully accomplishing thi...

This spring I looked to wanted to redo the cove stripe on my boat and I found a good match in the brown tape at myboatsign.com. The width (or height) of my strip was 5/8" and they cut it for me so that it would be even. How much do you need? I know that I did not use up the entire 150', but I a...
