Re: Need Assistance for Winter Storage in N.E.

Very nice boat, John - though not my cup of tea. I sent a PM- there's a yard in R.I. that can take them, if they haven't already made
arrangements. - Jean

Re: Outboard for CD25

I'd say a 6 hp should do just fine. My friend Chris used a 6 hp in his CD 25 as have many others. A larger motor may
be a tight squeeze and weight too is a factor when putting it in or out. - Jean -

Re: Origo stove fuel canister

I just checked facebook marketplace and there are a few Origo used stoves available. Unfortunately, you have to buy the complete stove. Prices range from around $150 to $300 or so. As a side note, I'm surprised the canisters rusted. I had an Origo 3000 on my previous boat and there was never any ser...

Re: A helping hand

You're fortunate, Jim - with the aluminum and all. My reinforcing bars are channel iron. They look to be in decent shape, though - just a bit of surface rust here and there. No serious deterioration at all. Vigilance is key. I figure it's time to renew the 40 + year old chain plate caulking before t...

A helping hand

Working alone rebedding deck hardware is tough. Here's something I tried. It worked, surprisingly, especially considering the 1/2" chainplate bolts
had friction nuts. - Jean

Re: Bulkhead Compass for CD26

On my old Cal 27, I had a Plastimo with integrated heel angle incorporated. I liked it. The current version is the Plastimo 130 which sells in the neighborhood of $300. The Richie Navigator might be slightly better, but sells for around $500. Both the Richie and Plastimo can mount on a sloped bulkhe...

Re: CD33 with tiller ?

If you're interested in undertaking a conversion, John Stone has documented the project on his CD 36, "Far Reach" I would probably prefer a tiller on my CD 33, but I'm content with the wheel and don't think about it. I am pretty sure you won't find any factory installed tillers on CD33s, b...

Re: Paint for Cape Dory 14 Cockpit

i suspect the roughness is just the fiberglass fabric-no special anti-skid was applied, I don't think. On my Dyer 10, I used Rustoleum Marine paint with a primer applied first. Interlux BilgeKote or Interlux Brightside would probably work well too. Interlux sells non-skid additive for paint called I...

1-1/2" Spartan Seacock, Solar Panel Has Sold

1-1/2" Spartan Seacock, works fine, no leaks -$50 I will be willing to ship this at cost. Solarland 55 Watt solar panel (26" x 26") with MP4 connectors and a Genasun GV-5 MPPT controller - $50. Works fine. Both items are being removed to make way for a refrigeration upgrade. The solar...

Re: CD 36 Bilge

Hi Patrick, one option which I adopted from Don Casey's book is to put the manual bilge pump inlet down at the bottom of the bilge and put a high capacity automatic pump higher so that it normally will be dry. The thinking is that the manual will suffice to remove nuisance water while the automatic ...
