SOLD: Fully Restored Cape Dory Typhoon #1273 - carla
carla's beautiful, forgiving and a joy to sail, but we recently moved and I cannot giver her the time and attention that she deserves. 2015: Cleaned and painted interior with Interlux Pearl White, replaced the teak Toe, Rub and Taff Rails, replaced all standing rigging, added a Schaefer Snap Furl an...

Re: CD Typhoon Compression Post Question
Thanks everybody for your generous advice, I settled on the 'hole in the sole' approach, resting the base of the post on a small square of stainless steel, epoxied directly atop the keel. From McMaster Carr I ordered a 36" length of 1" stainless steel tubing, with 0.12" wall thickness...

Typhoon Lightning Protection
I have read through the posts on this forum on this subject and found them to be inconclusive. Since at the moment I am in the process of installing a stainless steel compression post between the cabin headliner and the keel, this would be a good opportunity to address the lightning issue. A buddy s...

Re: CD Typhoon Compression Post Question
I would like to resume the discussion on this evergreen topic. I've combed through 17 pages of search results and agree with the gentleman who wrote that there are as many variations to this solution as there are personal Scotch preferences. Having been through everything, I've settled on my choice ...

Re: New Typhoon Owner! And, Project List!
Congrats on your Ty, Steve! A few years back I purchased Ty #1273, so we're not far off. When I bought her, she was a total wreck. She had broken off her mooring in a gale and became lodged between a seawall and a dock. The bow pulpit was torn off the deck, leaving 16 holes, she had three holes belo...

Re: CD25D-Juno hit by hurricane María and need replacements
Carlos, My heart goes out to you, your neighbors and everybody over there. As an American, I am ashamed by the Federal response and appalled by the Tweet that Whitefish put out to Mayor Cruz yesterday. A few years back, my Typhoon, which I had just acquired, broke off it's mooring in a gale and wash...

Re: Cape Dory Sailboats and The Boston Red Sox
I would only add that just as a Cape Dory is the best boat that money can buy, the Bosox are the best team that money can buy. #evilempire

Re: Typhoon genoa cost
A year ago, Doyle Sails on City Island in NYC made me a 140 with a sun cover and trim guides for $520. They charged $47 for the trim guide, so without that's $473.

Re: typhoon rub toe rail profiles
Hi Kevin, They don't really overlap. The just meet at the edges to form a 90 degree angle. We milled shallow grooves into the bottoms of the rails and applied copious amounts of calk. I learned a great calking technique just after I took that photograph. For finishing and tight spots, use one of tho...

Re: typhoon rub toe rail profiles
Kevin, I did a restoration of Typhoon 1273 this spring. I replaced all the rails. What i discovered was that both the rub rails and the toe rails used 1" x 3/4" teak. The toe rails were mounted on the 3/4" side while the rub rails were mounted on the 1" side. The effect was the t...

Fairfield County CT boat haulers
Greetings all,
First season with my restored Typhoon carla in the books but I need someone to haul her out of Compo Boat Basin in Westport CT and deliver to my backyard, one mile away. I thought I had this all lined up but my guy has gone AWOL.
Any suggestions?
Help!
Steve
