Re: Windlass for a CD30C and anchor locker space
I can tell you what has always been an issue for us is the stacking of the chain in the locker, once you have brought in a fair amount of chain someone has to go below and open the locker and knock the chain down. This can be anywhere from a pain to downright dangerous in a crowded anchorage or a st...

Re: The usual 4:00am Fire drill
We were in the Bahamas one winter and a norther passed through, it was a crowded anchorage and bout 1 am some of the new arrivals from earlier that day began to drag. Spreader lights were coming on and motors were starting. One guy and his attractive young 1st mate who had been having issues when an...

Re: Garmin GHP Reactor autopilot- CD 36
I think the concept of attaching directly to the rudder post has merit simply because even when a cable fails in the wheel steering you would still have steering as long as you had power. The emergency tiller is still onboard our boat, has never been used, and would be awkward at best to actually us...

Re: Garmin GHP Reactor autopilot- CD 36
Where did you get the bracket that attaches to the steering quadrant ? Was it necessary to extend the drive arm in order to reach the drive arm on the quad or was there an alternative ? Thanks Steve

Garmin GHP Reactor autopilot- CD 36
Has anyone installed one of these new Autopilots ? I'm gonna have the Garmin GHP Reactor unit installed in our boat. Hull # 105 which is an 84,CD 36. Just wonder, what if any, issues that you ran into ? I am pretty sure we're going to have Sailcraft in Oriental NC do the install here in a few more w...

Re: Where is the Far Reach?
Hey John, anymore updates and pics ? I was just wondering how Y'all were doing down that way. I'm not sure if there was another thread to keep us up to date or if you still had your Far Reach homepage active. Hope all is well, good luck in your travels.

Re: Where is the Far Reach?
Sweet ! Finally a downwind ride...I'm not sure who the guy is on your boat, doesn't look like the guy I bought the main from. I found a webcam that is showing Cruze Bay and I figure Far Reach is the one with the tall stick over behind the powerboat to the left of the ferry docks looking in. Hey give...

Re: Where is the Far Reach?
Greetings John, You are in a beautiful part of the Carrib, as you discovered getting ashore is about meeting some interesting folks and not the fancy restaurants. I guess you'll be bouncing around the BVI for awhile loads of good anchorages anywhere from minutes to hours away. Anchorages have evolve...

Re: Lookin for LED Bow and Stern Lights
Well here is what I've found so far... https://store.marinebeam.com/led-bi-color-navigation-light/ Replaces the bow light Bicolor and says it meets Colregs. https://store.marinebeam.com/led-stern-light/ My original lenses were pretty much shot here are the lenses for the 41's if you go that route ht...

Re: Refrigeration
The "icebox" on our 36 was and still is woefully inadequate, we cruised the Bahamas and the Windward/Leewards back in the 80's and we were always disappointed in the amount of engine run time that we needed, at least twice a day. We have an engine driven system and we all know how tight th...
