Re: Fitting an outboard to a 1974 CD 25"
I had my marine service guy remove the tiller handle on my Johnson 6 and got it to fit in the lazarette with the cover closed

Re: Cape Dory 25' Winch Handle Help!
From what I understand, I think they were the stock winches on the CD25s'. There may be a reference somewhere on this site to the manufacturer. In looking at their construction, I would say they were made out of some type of composite material and were probably chosen because they were much cheaper ...

Re: Cape Dory 25' Winch Handle Help!
I had the same original composite winches for my halyard and for secondary sheeting. The PO had installed aluminum Eckes on the bronze pedestals for the jib/genoa sheets. I had one slightly damaged handle that fit the original winches that I sent to someone on this forum who wanted a replacement for...

Re: How do scuppers function on a Typhoon, and how to unplug
I have a spring-type device used to clean my trumpet. It is flexible, covered with vinyl and has a soft bristle end. I use it to clean the scuppers in my CD25 when needed. It rolls up in a case about the size of a snuff can. Not sure if you can get them anymore (mine's from the mid 60s') but check w...

Re: Texas Flooding
Just got an email from our marina at Grapevine (Scotts Landing) that the city has closed all roads going into Oak Grove Park. They had parking for marina clients at the ballparks across the road last week. They now have closed that and will be shuttling clients from Silver Lake on a limited schedule...

So, which lake? We are at Grapevine where it's been flooded for a couple of weeks, but nothing as bad as your pics.

Re: New Outboard for a CD 25
Wow! I wouldn't have thought you could swivel ANY motor in that small space. Our 6hp Johnson fills up the well; you might can turn it an inch in either direction. Perhaps it is your bracket that makes the difference.
Thanks for the tip.

Re: New Outboard for a CD 25
I'm considering a re-power also. From reading past entries, it seems that a Tohatsu 6 Sail Pro is the best candidate. However, I notice that they also make a 5 hp long shaft and am wondering how it will work. Presently I have a 20-year-old Johnson 6 and the way it is installed, it sits low enough to...

Re: Need a Portable A/C unit
Zelda, A week or so ago there was thread on this forum called CD 25 questions. One of the replies had a website detailing his restoration of his boat. In one of the pictures there was an upright AC unit and he mentioned how he had plumbed and wired it. His site is: http://www.adam-waywell.squarespac...

Re: insurance for a CD25 ... any suggestions
My homeowners insurance (Hartford) will not allow a "secondary insured payee" on boat coverage.
