Furler for CD 25

Post by John Eppler »

I have a CD 25 and am considering switching from my hank on system to a roller reef system. The choices seem to come down to furlex or Harken. Has anyone any experience or thoughts?

I have a Furlex on my CD22. It operates nicely but it requires a fixed length headstay, ie you can't use a turnbuckle at the lower end. Maybe they have other models that allow it.

My prior boat had a ProFurl. A great design, bullet proof and you can easily adjust headstay.

Had a CDI before. I don't like the internal halyard set up. Others like that design. My view is CDI is great for trailer sailing as the risk of foil damage is practically nil.
