TinyTach feedback

Ken, I put one on a Yanmar and love it. The display is probably not waterproof but has been water resistant with no degradation. The sensor goes on one of the fuel injection lines. I run mine in 12v mode from the instrument panel. You do have to know the fuel line diameter exactly because of the way...

LUVIT, CD 30 Ketch is for sale (see CD buy/sell forum).

Substitute

Stewarts GB works for me. Most of the rest don't. Last time I got Bariets? it was packaged at the "red dot" store with BlackSeal rum.

Yanmar

Ron, I've seen such a wrench but not recently. The usual method from my experience is a flat long thing like a big screwdriver or chisel and a compact hard thing like a hammer. Just make sure it is turning off and not on (loosen vs tighten). Sometimes when you get upside down and turned around you l...

Running

Randy,

The bilge pump switch has a red "pump on" light. But I never noticed it the whole 6 hours. Maybe an audible of some sort would get my attention, unless I turned it off, of course.

Scarry bilge pump story.

On my recent trek to Charleston and back with the admiral aboard I had a close call with the Bilge pump. On day four, after shutting down the engine from a 6 hour run I noticed the voltmeter reading way too low. Initial assumption was alternator had gone bad. I opened engine cover and immediately sm...

Southport photos

Here we have the three CDs and our mobile cocktail lounge. Joe and Libby Shapiro were our hosts. JOLI FOUR got underway at dawn and was back in within minutes with engine trouble. Don't you know the President of Hatteras got a wakeup call. They were back underway in hours. We should all have such se...

Cape Charles city/town?

I've been into Cape Charles. Busy fishing village with some small town charm. Good breakfast at the drug store (mile hike or so).
Sometimes you have to cross the big water to make any progress.
Smith Is and Tangier are on the east side too.

AC groud

Your AC ground has to go to ground for safety reasons. Unless you want to put in another external ground plate you have no choice but to use the DC ground as common. If you are using shore power all the time you want a galvanic isolator anyway. Keep it simple, may not be cheap but it is better than ...

Leak confirmed

Russell, Yesterday while it was raining here, I looked at my leak with the portlight removed. The leak was at the top of the hole between the liner and the hull. I had put a good and tight cover over the opening out side. The bondo they used to seal the space between the liner and hull is broken in ...

Leaks

Russell, I have just pulled the three aft portlights on my 30 ketch, mid 70's. The cabin topsides and inside liner come together at the side where the portlight hole is. If there is water between the liner and topside glass it can migrate to the portlight and run down and around. I suspected this an...
