Electrical Question

Post by Ron M. »

I'm installing shore power and a battery charger. My question is does the a/c ground buss, (to engine block) need to be seperate from the d/c ground ? What is the best way to this set up so as to avoid a galvanitic situation, without using a galvanitic isolator- is that possible? Insights appreciated.

AC groud

Your AC ground has to go to ground for safety reasons. Unless you want to put in another external ground plate you have no choice but to use the DC ground as common.
If you are using shore power all the time you want a galvanic isolator anyway. Keep it simple, may not be cheap but it is better than the alternative.
