Re: CD 25d transmission slipping
Thanks for replies. Sorta confirms my worst fears. Something's wrong. I can't fix it. It's gonna have to be done on the hard. I need to find a marine transmission guy. It's gonna be expensive. Sigh.

CD 25d transmission slipping
Im having intermittent slippage when motoring, occasionally only able to make 1 or 2 kts. regardless of throttle. At some point, the slippage seems to stop and speed increases and it appears by looking at the wake that the prop is spinning faster...more turbulence, etc. I'm mechanically inept but th...

CD25D mainsheet block/traveller
I broke the mainsheet block/traveller combination on my CD 25D today. Anyone know what the part number might be for that? Who manufactures original equipment or similar part. Just started my season and hate to miss too much looking for this part. One of the sheaves in the block is partially broken.....

Re: Boat still on the hard!
This was last summer...I only draw 3 1/2 ft. so I can usually tack back and forth without a problem...I'm at Danny's in Mill Basin. They are still open as they service police boats so considered essential. Don't know if they'll launch pleasure boats this spring.

Re: Boat still on the hard!
I'm in New York and supposed to stay home...worked on the boat yesterday, but still need to do a lot of work before launch. It feels a little selfish to leave home to work on the boat, but I can't quite come to terms with the idea of no sailing season this year. Somebody tell me it's alright to sing...

CD25d throttle cable
Was out on my '82 CD25d this afternoon when apparently the throttle cable broke inside the sleeve somewhere. Not sure where to look for a replacement. Anybody have a suggestion. Thanks.

Yanmar 1gm oil leak
I've got an oil leak on my '82 CD25D...somewhere on my Yanmar 1gm. I replaced the two oil lines on the front of the engine last season after the one running under the raw water pump rusted and sprung a pin hole leak. This current leak doesn't seem to be coming from there but I haven't been able to c...

Re: Tropical Storm/Hurricane Matthew
I was scheduled to depart Stanford, Ct. on Saturday as delivery crew on a Jeanneau 44 to the BVI. Just heard from the Captain that we will delay until sometime next week when the forecast and path become clearer. No point in getting in front of this thing.

Re: Oil leak
Just wanted to update the oil leak repair. All went as expected and after some clean up, spent the rest of the day sailing. I checked the oil level on my return and there was no obvious leaks. I'll the change the diaper under the engine and continue to look for any dripping. I also covered the new p...

Oil leak
I developed a pin hole leak in the oil line on my YANMAR 1GM just below the impeller housing that dripped occasionally and started some corrosion. I've ordered replacement lines, washers and bolts and hope to tackle the job myself. I have only the simplest understanding of diesel mechanics but I hav...

Re: October Sail
This may have been my last sail of the season Tuesday. Pretty disappointing really, less than 10kts of wind, barely making 3kts, but hey, it was sailing. Oh well, there's always next year.

Re: Holding our breath and watching Joaquin
The dilemma of course is wether to pull the boat out for the season, wait to see the track and intensity, or just double up the lines and fenders and hold on. I'm loathe to give up several more weeks of potential sailing and I suffered considerable damage from Sandy even after pulling the boat for t...

Re: Cape Dory Rally - City Island YC, NY July 18-19
I am really sorry I won't be able to attend. Family visits and health issues interfere. I was so looking forward to the sail and the opportunity to meet other Cape Dory owners.

Re: East coast and Bahamas Cruise CD 25D
Really enjoyed your trip to the Bahamas on your CD25D. I've got the same boat and contemplate a similar trip. I don't have a wind vane and don't expect I'll get one because of the expense. Instead I've been experimenting with a sheet to tiller self steering setup and find it a frustrating experience...
