Re: Winter storage recommendations

if you want to go to Great Bay Marine at newington you have to have your mast unstepped at a dock that they use on the river in order to get under the General Sullivan bridge. I would call Kittery boatyard for a price or Great Cove marina

Re: Chafe Protection for Teak Coaming

Joe, I installed the Harken Carbo Furling Lead Block Kit. This keeps the furling line off the deck and gives you a better purchase to pull the furling line. The last block is mounted on the aft stanchion and it rotates so you're pulling up. It also has a ratchet feature that puts a slight drag on th...

Re: Repowering a 25D

I repowered my 25D in 2014. Like you I intend to keep the boat. You will be amazed at the lack of vibration and smoothness compared to the 1GM. It was worth every penny. Stanley at Beta is a wealth of knowledge. PM me for any questions.

Re: CD25d

Hi Bob, The owner of that 25d just bought it a year ago and currently has no place to keep it in the water. I think he just wants to get out from under the storage fees etc plus he changed jobs. Hopefully I'll see you this summer, hope the traveller install goes ok, I'd like to see the finished inst...

Re: Re-powering a 25D

I had a Beta 14 installed last winter and have put 50 hours on it this year. I had it installed by a shop here that is a Beta dealer. I think my installation is superior to the Tim Lackey product because they modified the beds and moved the engine forward about 4 or 5 inches. Consequently there is p...

Re: CD25D Ice Box Drain Hose

Dick, I installed a 90 elbow as someone else suggested, it works fine. While you're in there you might want to grind some of the fiberglass and foam directly behind the barrel of the cockpit drain so you can service it.

Re: Dorade Vent Hoses for Cape Dory 25D

one thing to keep in mind on the 25d is the proximity of the starboard dorade to the back of the engine control panel. I 've always worried that water could get on the back of the conrol panel so I replaced mine with the wire reinforced flex hose, just in case.

Re: Tackling the Cutlass Bearing

Bill, you definitely should cut the shaft with a sawzall rather than risk bending the output flange on the transmission . Your existing shaft may already not pass muster. It'll be a much better job with a new shaft and cutlass bearing, as Gary said you don't want to do it over. It's 8 degrees in sou...

Re: Tackling the Cutlass Bearing

I have a 25D also. The set screws are at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock on the outside. You only need to sand down the fairing compound to find them, you don't need to use a grinder. Mine also had two set screws on the inside, you'll see them after you remove the hose.

Re: Cape Dory bond wires

Hi Bob,
Congratulations on your new boat. I know you'll really enjoy it. As already posted the only things that are bonded are the mast, the rigging, and the bronze seacocks. I also have a 25D and am moored at Pepperrell Cove in Kittery. Maybe we'll see each other this summer.

Re: Genoa block replacement 25D 1" track

:) I purchased new blocks from Shaeffer three years ago and they fit perfectly. I'll look around for my old blocks. You could also drill out the rivets and just replace the wheels.
