Mast Gate Problem

Last yr when unstepping my mast, I lost a mast gate part for my CD 26. We have 3 other CD owners in our harbor. To my surprise none of us have the same mast gate set up. Does anyone have a picture of the part that went with the photos below? Does anyone know where the part might be ordered from? Deb...

Re: Rigging for CD 26

Jeff,
Did you repurpose your mast winches or purchase new ones?

Rigging for CD 26

For safety reasons, I am considering running my mast and jib halyards to the cockpit as well as installing a downhaul. Has anyone done a project like this or have a CD with this type of rigging set up? Would you remove the winches and cleat from the mast and repurpose them on the topside? or leave t...

The bulkhead compass I'm looking at for my CD 26 at comes in a vertical or inclined model.
How do I determine which one I need for my boat?

Standing Rigging-Replacing a Lost Part Help!

While demasting, my 1986 cape dory 26 lost one of my upper shroud parts. I cannot raise the mast or sail unless I can find a replacement. Does anyone have suggestions on where I can resource this replacement part?

Apologize for the large photo. Wasn't sure how to reduce the photo size.

Re: Tips for learning to dock single handed

LOL! I'll work on the brave part. AKA the timing of getting off the boat when used to having other people to do that.

Tips for learning to dock single handed

I have a CD 26. I would like to learn how to move the boat in and out of my dock when single handed which I've not tried. Most docking info I read is not for a full keel boat. Tips, ideas, and suggestions welcome.

CD 26 Compass Research Questions

Continuing my compass replacement quest. Replacing a Aqua Meter Saturn no. 142. The current booklet says the mounting hole for that is 4 1/4 diameter. A few questions. 1) Does anyone know if the CD 26 bulkhead is vertical or inclined? Some compasses have different degrees stated for the incline. 2) ...

CD 26 Compass Replacement

I had an aquameter saturn bulkhead compass A141 or A142. It can note be repaired. I'm looking to find a replacement that also has the clinometer at the bottom rather than having to install a separate part like the Ritchie SR-2 . I'd like to simply pop the new one into the current cut out. The defect...

Re: Ode to treating Cape Dory teak

So far, I have been re-applying the gold tone annually without any prep other than washing and wiping with some thinner to clean before applying. Been using it a good 10 yrs or so. I typically only get time for one coat, which by the next season is worn down and in need of a re-coat. So far, I've no...
