Thanks for the responses! Yes, my job will be in Annapolis, but I don't mind keeping my boat outside the city. I'll have a rental car so it's not a big deal. I will look into places outside of Annapolis as well as the link that moctrams posted. I am in my early 40's and single, so maybe the city mig...

Chesapeake Bay
Hey folks, My job might have me transfer to Maryland from Florida for about 6 months or so. I was thinking of sailing my boat up and taking advantage of the time there to sail the Chesapeake Bay. What are the average slip rental fees around Annapolis, and what are the best marinas if I was going to ...

An inch and a quarter is a lot of movement. I don't know how much the average CD rudder moves , vertically, or if it ever does while sailing but this seems excessive. It also seems like you would be perilously close to disengaging from the shoe. You definitely don't want this to happen! It could ru...

Okay, good news. Well, after diving on the rudder today in shallow water I tied a line around the rudder and lifted it against the underside of the hull. The pin stayed in, and when I climbed back in the boat (leaving the rudder where it was) the distance the post came up was just a little farther d...

Thanks for the information, guys. It looks (so far) like TS Emily will spare us so this Saturday I will anchor in some shallow water and figure out what's really going on. I will report back with my findings. I sure hope I don't have to haul her out and remove the rudder. If I do, that's going to be...

Re: one correction
Although, if your post is in two parts and the attachment point is just below the tiller as you say may be the case, there must be a type of "key" system to lock the two together. In such a case, I suppose it would be possible to separate the tiller from the post. On the hard or a calm mo...

Re: CD28 Rudder post question
The 1/2" of vertical play of the post is at the lower end of the post sitting in the gudgeon attached to the lower aft section of the false keel. This could be the cause of serious trouble. While the boat is on the hard, make sure that the post can't be lifted so much that the post can jump ou...

CD28 Rudder post question
Hey guys, I have an issue with my CD28 rudder that I'm wanting to understand: I had the boat out of the water and the rudder is solidly attached. I tried moving it up and down and left and right, and it turned properly but it was secure. However, I have noticed (before and since it was hauled) that ...

Some may have that reading but others saw it differently. Many thought that Iran just wanted to embarrass Jimmy Carter and rub his nose in it by releasing the hostages literally as soon as he left office. But that's a subject for a different time and a different place. You could be right. That is d...

Interestingly, in the two major cases recently of American citizens being taken hostage by pirates, in the instance where the pirates were eradicated by snipers the hostage lived. In the instance where the Navy tried to negotiate, the hostages died. It's no secret that the American hostages in Iran ...

Hmmm....
Interesting.
Thanks for this post! I completely forgot that my glasses have magnets on them for holding on the sunshades that came with them. I lost the sunshades long ago.
When I hold up my hand bearing compass the two magnets are less than an inch away from it. That explains alot....![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
Cheers!

I don't believe you are allowed to anchor overnight in Vero Beach. I think you are required to use the city's mooring field if I'm not mistaken, which I might be. I know they were arguing about that at one point or another. Just north of Vero in Sebastian, or south of Vero in Fort Pierce there is go...
