active - again - looking for a trailer

Hello all - I have been off the message board for a while (years) -- but starting up again. Just finishing up with a Beta 20 repower - excited about seeing the better performance and added a variable 4 blade prop too - really anxious to see it this Friday from Hirschfield yachts in Salsulito CA. But...

Tiller VS. Wheel in CD 28 - need more cockpit room!

I have owned my CD 28 (Escape) for about 1.5 years and have done a lot of repairs & updating during that time (will post pics) and have come to the conclusion I would like to switch from tiller to wheel - for the sole reason I do not have enough room in the cockpit for people to sit - without th...

torqueedo - Cruise 2

I took a splurge last year and added a Torqueedo to my CD 28 - part as a back-up to the Volvo MD7A (which I finally got sorted out shortly after adding the TC2  ) - so now I use for a aux. to push against the tide and sometimes I go "solo" with the TC2 and "quietly" leave t...

engine RPM - Volvo MD7A

The prop is the same as prior to the work being done - I bought the boat in Jan - since I knew it had an overheating problem I did not run the engine north of 1100 RPM prior to the repairs - so I really do not know - have you had experience with the same model engine? If so, what have you experience...

Proper Prop for CD 28/Volvo MD7A

Recently had a lot of work done on the Volvo engine - starts fast and runs strong - but I max out at about 1600 rpm's - I would think it should go up to 2000 - 2500 rpm's - my first thought was prop pitch - so I am checking mine (diver) - wondering if folks know the proper pitch/prop (2 blade)? Than...

talked to the sail maker - "Joe"

He acknowledges he messed up - but was asking me if anyone knew how many hanks on the sail typically are attahed via the jackline? He has not had that many CD 28's in his shop - if anyone knows or has a pic that would be most helpful - thx - Warren

CD 28 - club foot jib - and Thanks

First thanks for all the good advice on aux power - my earlier post. In fact I had the engine pulled (Volvo) and completely gone through - spent about 1/2 of a new engine - but not inexpensive. I am a novice at a club foot jib - and trying to better understand the relationship between the jib boom &...

Relpy to all

Thanks for all the good information and helpful advice - I am due to speak to the boat yard tomorrow - on repairs vs replace - I have had both a Beta & Yanmar dealer' give me quotes for repower - not pretty. So we will see - while I am anxious to get it fixed - don't want to break the bank eithe...

cooling system

Dick - thanks - I have taken off every line/hose - seems the blockage is in the engine - strong flow into and a mere trickle out - hard to "snake" around the engine to pull off parts to repair/replace - also a lot of rust on the back of the engine - don't know if that is normal - Warren

electric power

I would really like to know more about your conversion to electric power on your CD 28 - how did you deal with the rudder and shaft position? If you wouldn't mind discussing - give me a call - 408-821-8070 - Thanks & Regards - Warren

auxillary power for a 1980 CD 28

I have recently purchased a 1980 CD 28 - located in SF CA - had a lot of work done by the boat yard - but the Volvo diesel is overheating - I am a bit at the mercy of the boat yard since I do not feel I can return to the slip w/o a better solution. While I am willing to go the overhaul or repower ro...
