This may be one of those ads to be careful with. I notice several grammatical errors in the ad, and no registration numbers on the hull. Maybe a good deal, but proceed with caution.

I agree with Sharkbait....build your own.
Here is a link with a description of the process and some photos. It really isn't that difficult.

I'm Baaaack!
I once was a regular here. I was rebuilding a Cape Dory 25, and relied on the expertise and assistance of this board many times. I posted my progress on www.ReefRoof.com. Then, a jealous and vindictive wife decided to create havoc in my life by not just filing for divorce, but by issuing a Restraini...

Beautifully executed work! I love to see it when someone appreciates the value of these neglected old boats and restores them to their former elegance. These are classics, and you've done your little yacht proud! Congratulations!

Jon;
Pictures would certainly help me understand what you're dealing with because at this point I would just be guessing.

Re: CD 25 rudder/hull construction
Otterhill; You mention a 'stuffing box' which leads me to ask, are you referring to a CD25 or a CD25D? The CD25D (the D is for Diesel) has an auxilliary engine, and thus a stuffing box. The CD25 has an outboard engine well, not an auxilliary engine, and thus has no stuffing box. I am not familiar wi...

Re: Water Leaking From Rudder Shaft at Base of Tiller
I agree with your analysis, Ben. I didn't find any kind of seal on the rudder shaft when I disassembled mine for repairs. Water can work its way up through the rudder post (tube) along the shaft. Forward motion will enhance this effect because the post is reclined. Any water entering the boat this w...

Re: The Value Of Our Board
In the reconstruction, refurbishment, and restoration of my 1981 CD 25 #794 "Pearl", I relied heavily on the advice, experience, and suggestions of members here. This site offers a tremendous amount of "value-added" opportunity and information. I have no doubt that the success I'...

Count Your Blessings
Mathias, I feel your pain. I also lost a boat, by storm, not fire, and it can be a devastating feeling, I know. (I don't want to talk about it.) It is not the worst of all possible outcomes. You have your life, and just as important, you have your wife. A woman who stands with you through the losses...

Gary; I would follow the advice to dewax the wood and use epoxy. The problem with a 45 degree cut is that you don't have much wood surface for the epoxy to adhere to, so you need to strengthen the joint because it is highly stressed to conform to the curvature of the hull. When I did mine, the toe r...
