The first year we had our CD-25, the marina we were at used a forklift to launch and haul our boat. It seemed to work fine, I did not see any problems with it.

Ports
I looked up the Beckson part number and the ports were PO512-WC-10# or PO512-WC-10 ( fixed or opening ). They are 5"x12"x1". There are 4 ports per side, two opening and two fixed. It required a bit of work to fill in the middle of the single long fixed port to accommodate two new port...

CD-25 Ports
I replaced the ports on my 1976 CD-25 during restoration. I had a thrifty attack and used Beckson plastic ports. I am very happy with them, but for aesthetic reasons I wish I would used bronze. It is a fairly big project and I am very pleased with the results. There are some photos of the port repla...

Rudder / Tiller
Mine is a 1976 and it also is slightly misaligned, I just live with it. When I removed the bronze fitting from the rudder shaft, I used some penetrating oil and carefully drove a wedge into the slot on the fitting to break it free. I was surprised to find the key was mild steel. Application of some ...

Dodger
We went through somewhat of a fiasco last year trying to buy a dodger from Island Nautical for our CD-25. Some kind of mix up on the patterns. Island Nautical was good about the whole thing, refunded our money, but it cost a season with out a dodger. We ended up building one from a Sailrite kit. Not...

Hull seeping / non skid...
Dennis, I don't know the Typhoon, but suspect it is similar to my 25. My boat also had been "seeping" before I became the owner, what I suspect was the cause is that during construction the builders had trouble keeping the mat & roving stuffed back in the tight bends of the mold and it...

Hull Repairs
Hi Dennis, I had a similar problem with my cd-25. When I got the area in question opened up I found some fairly large void areas, where there was never any glass or resin, so watch out for that. Also, if the area is at all wet, it will need to be completely dried out prior to the repair work. I used...

Lazy Jacks / Single Handing
They can be a pain at times, but I would not be without them. This year on Prairie I added bungee cords from the spreaders to the lazy jacks. When the lazy jacks are loose, the bungees pull the cables open, making it easier to raise the main. I am also thinking about routing the control cord back to...

How is it working?
Hi Jerry, I really could not be more pleased. I thought about your question and there is not anything that really did not work out, a few things needed a bit of tweaking. The only thing that I have a few regrets about is that I kind of wish I would have started with a boat that had a stand up cabin,...

removing through hull
When I pulled mine I made a steel bar that fit into the outside of the through hull to hold it in place. There were tabs on the inside of the through hull the the steel bar could catch on and I held the bar with a cresent wrench. I think I used a channel lock to loosen the inside nut. It's a two per...
