To summarize, after reading all the comments...
So it looks like my first effort will be to try (but not try too hard) to remove the coamings. Definitely hear the advice of those who have had difficulty with their removal and don't want to compound my problem. If they're off, I gain better options for rebuilding them. If they don't yield readily,...

Thank you for the suggetsions
Unfortunately the coaming cracks are large (in excess of 18") horizontal ones. The picture of the repair Mark send sets a standard I would be quite happy to even half-way replicate. The teak supports at the aft-end are a great idea for 40 year old teak but in addition I think I'll need metal re...

Teak backboards in Typhoon cockpit cracked
In an effort to economize last winter, I covered my Typhoon w/ a tarp instead of having her shrinkwrapped as I have done previously. This endeavour proved to be penny-wise and pound-foolish; shame on me, as the teak backboards in her cockpit now are both cracked. I don't know if the backboards can b...

Thank you all for the insightful advice
I think the Typhoon's hoses are good and I replaced the clamps last spring. Boat is out of water now and I need to take a flashlight to see if I can't find a part number on the installed valves. There is nothing in the old owners manual. The dicey part will be removing these valves assuming I locate...

Replacing cockpit drain valves on Typhoon
The ball valves on my Typhoon (for drains from cockpit sometimes I think referred to as seacocks) have been stuck in open position since I've owned the boat. I've never been terribly bothered by this condition. I'm trying to envision a scenario where I'd want them closed before I go out and invest m...

Specs for Typhoon Trailer
I'm thinking about trying to buy a trailer for my Typhoon WEdr and storing the boat for the winter on it. Does anyone have experience w/ this kind of thing? I know Triad Systems makes a very nice new trailer for the Typhoon but they're a bit beyond my limited budget. Have other manufacturer's made t...

bolt rope?
is the bolt rope you refer to also called a downhaul; if so, this line is tight. Maybe the main halyard (which is only 2 yrs old) strechtes out after the main is raised. i've suspected but can't prove this theory without I think having a new halyard installed. If the bolt rope is neither of these li...

No cunningham sailor w/ cracks beginning to show on hatches
My mainsail has no cunningham. Neither the luff nor the foot are as tight as I'd like them; i.e. they have a little play in them. I've tugged on the halyard til I can tug no more. The little block in the outhaul doesn't really afford all too much purchase in drawing the main aftwards. Also some spid...

Many thanks for the insightful suggestions
It's extremely nice of all of you to offer the thoughtful and helpful suggestions you have. After reading each of the posting I think at a minimum I will rent a power washer from Home Depot and try forcing water upwards from the drain opening on the hull; however, Dick Villamil's comments about even...

Looking for help with Typhoon
All, Starboard drain on my Typhoon is partially blocked. I don't know for how long it has had this problem. I tried forcing water down it w/ spray hose but this approach didn't unblock drain. I try probing upwards from drain opening on hull but this step didn't increase flow either. Any suggestions?...
